Are Nightbreaker bulbs still a good choice?

If you look on the power bulbs site the Phillips extreme vision bulbs have just won the auto express bulb test in the over 60% category . I've had these for a couple of years now . Improvement over standard but as said still too low a cut off distance on standard adjustment.
 
I've not read the Auto Express magazine for a while but they do a big bulb test each year in a scientific environment.
Google it and it does say who where the winners in recent years.

Incidentally, I had the Osram bulbs I think that we're recommended on my van and they lasted no more than a year. And that was 2 sets.
I've gone back to standard bulbs now.
If you do upgrade your bulbs, they do recommend you check your headlight levels at a garage. Some say you should get them checked when ever you change a bulb as even 2 identical bulbs can be slightly different in terms of glass and filament angle.

Is there a thread somewhere were it shows you how to adjust the lights.I seen a thread some months back but tried search and can't find it now.
 
There is a white adjuster next to each light which is accessed from the top using a Allen key. 5mm from memory.

Thanks srhutch,I've had a quick look and found the white adjusters.Do you turn clockwise or anti-clockwise two complete turns from a known dead center ?
 
Hi Derby,

I also did this, from memory it is anti-clockwise but if you park opposite a wall in the dark with your lights on then adjust it you can see which way the level moves.

This is what I did.

Right for £12, they are an improvement but I'm glad I didn't pay more. Aesthetically, they don't cut the mustard either, if people say the Phillips are better, go for them, they really arnt worth the hurting your hand getting the clip off. :|
 
Hey everyone, I know this discussion was a little while back but just wanted to ask a question. Looking at the previous posts it seems to suggest that fitting the Philips bulbs are easier than fitting the Osram bulbs, is that correct? If so, why?

Used nightbreakers on My Citroen Picasso, bright enough but found I had to keep replacing then every 4 months or so. They are very short lived so just went back to ordinary bulbs in the end.

I think I'm going to give these a whirl guys. The salt on my headlights ATM makes people flash at me due to the glare and I cannot see a thing on the 60mph unlit roads! Playing chicken with myself.

I don't think there's a lot in the top brands tbh, just personal preference. I used Philips "blue vision" -Not as bright but supposed to be a whiter light. No issues so far

What was the final decision then guys? One of mine has gone today so I need to replace it fast, do people replace both or one at a time?
