Are my halos oem or not??

I know this subject has come up many times before, and I have read many of them!!..... but I'm still confused :headbang:
I have a 56 plate facelift 3.0si sport roadster. I have looked on Realoem but cannot relate the number of bulbs shown with what I see light up!!
I have read many times that the Z4 only has inboard halos, the outboard ones just reflecting light from the dripped beam headlight. This is fine, no problem, but when I put my side lights on I get inboard and outboard halos.

The picture above is just side lights, no dipped beam. When I turn the switch further to switch on the headlights I get the following.

So I began to think that I has aftermarket headlights fitted, but to me the enclosure looks original.

Can anyone caste any light on the subject (excuse the pun).

Have a read here about CCFL vrs LED angel rings

Yours? Are modded OEM lights.
I'm sure facelift lights came with a single "inboard halo" so closest to the kidney's.

Just to clear it up for the OP - you have a set of facelift halogen OE headlights that have been split open and 2x (what look to be) CCFL rings inserted.
The hole in the bottom centre of your main beam is where the sidelight used to be, I expect the rings have been wired into this feed.

If you want to do anything to those rings, you'll have to open up the headlights again.

Thanks Ranski, thanks Scooba.
Looks like the car had more of an exciting past than l thought.
Its a shame the CCFLs are so dim

If they have been split before they may well be easier to split open again. If I had done it then would probably use silicone sealant which would be easy enough to remove. You do have to drop the bumper off to remove a headlight though.

yep, for one of my cut & shuts I replaced my CCFL's for LEDS - no need for a dremel, just used a knife

Thanks for the info guys.... I now know that my AE are not stock and exactly how they were modified. Going through the post that ranski pointed out, I found pictures of my car!!! back in 2013 having the mod done!!.

Might look at swapping the CCFLs for LEDs later but for now I'll set the codings up to use the CCFLs as DRLs.
