Are ///M seats different to si sport seats?

Just wondering what the differences are between the M sport seats and the ///M seats. So far I've noticed my ///M has the ///M badge and not much else

Any difference in material maybe?

Si seats on individual trim can be specified in any leather so no necessary difference in material but the actual design is slightly different.

Don't have easy access to 2 photos right now but look at the bolster on both the //M has it as all 9ne piece whereas the si has extra stitching. Also as you mentioned no debossed //M logo on the si headrest

Embossed M badge on the m seats in the headrest and on the seating of the m sport seats there are 2 cosmetical stitching patterns.

On rare occasions the m sport seats are fitted with an embossed piece of leather (cosmetic reasons I think) in the backrest:

I think that last feature is only for cars fitted with extended leather.
I have that embossed piece of leather too.

Materials (leather) can differ. M sport seats can be had in a range of 2 tone colours from the individual line.
Both M seats and M sportseats come in leathertype 'New england' (m seats black, msportseats black, red, and all bicolours) and leathertype 'walknappa' (M seats colours, and all coloured individual m sport seats), and I think you can even have the m sport seats in cloth or at least half leather.

Als the seatbelt guide can differ. The pre facelift seats (pre facelift m sport seats) have a thick guide:

Facelift chairs (m sportseats and m seats) have thin guides:

guidoK mentions almost everything

I would only like to add that Z4M-Seats may come without the embossed m badge in case the first buyer of the car configurated his M without badges on the outside.

The Z4M-Seats come with a double stitching.

si-M-Seats may come with half leather. There should be no cloth only option. The standard leathertype of si-M-Seats is called Oregon leather.

There are facelift and prefacelift versions of si-M-Seats with different seat belt guides...

:o Dusty, mucky seats in those phoro's.. :telloff: They are doing my ADHD head in.

Lol no... thats just a little bit of dust. Thats what a week of tuscany does to your car, at least when you dare to ride the backroads at a mans pace. 5min vacuum job.

Wanna see mucky seats?
Enjoy

And yes, someone on the forum uses these... (although after an intensive clean)

Not all M seats have the M logo. Individual extended leathers are New England leather - champagne and amarone doesn't have an M logo, have a feeling the two tones might be the same.

Are there any individual seats with /m logo?
From what I know there's only a generic individual brochure, not a seperate m individual brochure so I think they all picking from the same individual parts stock.

The seat in your picture isnt an M seat but a M sports seat (note the stitching on seat and bolster), which can be fitted to a z4m through the individual program..

Some are new england so maybe thats the reason.

I wonder if its this complicated as well on other bmw models where seats look almost identical with the exception of a small stitching seam or a little platch of embossed leather.... :?
Or is it just the z4 ?

I have retro-fitted ///M seats in mine with the ///M logo and thought I knew the difference until I read tom's post saying that some ///M seats don't have the logo on the headrest - his picture also shows stitching on the seat base that I thought were only on the M Sport seats as Guidok points out :?

So I think the leathers that dont have the embossed logo are all the individual Ext leathers and bi colour

Syrah blue
Armarone
Champagne
Caramel

Although ive never seen an M with Syrah or Caramel leather only 3.0SI

I did some digging, and the champagne seats are interesting.
Accoring to the bmw parts catalog, there is only one champagne seat, for prefacelift cars, facelift cars and z4m
Individual walknappa champagne with interiorcode LLCM and LPCM (one is extended the other not), both with the same partnumbers.
52107918237 for the backrest.

However in the bmwzroadster site you see this interior with the z4m:
Champagne_Ex_Nappa.jpg

And at the z4 individual this interior:
champagne.jpg

So which one has which partnumbers if there is only 1 traceable partnumber?!?
On the bmwz4 roadster they state LLCM/LPCM also for that z4 individual interor.
So that is really dodgy. One of those interiors has interior parts that have no traceable partnumbers (big bummer if you want to replace if one is broken/damaged....)

The parts also dont show a revision date or so. same partnumbers since introduction. OR is one of those interiors NOT champagne (and then that bmwz4roadster site is incorrect with the data)

No I figured it out, that bmwz4roadster site has its info wrong:

What they list at the z4m interiors as champagne is in reality the light variant of the sepang bronze:
M_Light_SepangBronze.jpg

And indeed those are z4m style seats.

The champagne seats in the z4m are definately z4 m sportsseats, just as they are in the non m individual models:

Thats why the never have the m embossed logo I presume, because the same seats are also fitted in non M z4's

So it turns out that the bmw parts system hasnt made a fault and that all parts are traceable again.
Anyone with champagne seats can stop holding their breaths now....

I think it is

I have an x3 which is supposed to have the X logo embossed in the seats as it’s an Xline model

But .. it doesn’t, as apparently only three of the available seat colours have it

And mine isn’t one of those seat colours
