Are lots of hood creases normal?

My hood looks like this:

Is this normal from lots of hood up/hood down's or could my roof protector (applied Autoglym one about 4 weeks ago) have run out? I have noticed that the hood is slightly bobbly all over which it wasn't before.

Any ideas?

I only have a few crease marks on mine :o

bobbles? like when clothes go bobbly, or more like stretched fabric...

That hood looks very dry or faded do you treat it with anything ?

The creases you will get but not lots of them they look like scuff marks on the very top

that looks more like the AG product leaving marks on the surface maybe?, i treated mine about 8 weeks ago, when i sprayed it on it left water stains/marks, i went back over it with the cleaning stuff and sponge, then re applied the protection with a soft sponge rather than spray and the marks were gone.

how do you clean the hood normally? i just use the hard white sponge that came with the AG kit and use warm water with a tiny bit of car shampoo in and hose it off. it could be that if you drop the hood wet/damp you get the marking maybe? i think its more luck than judgement that ive always left the hood to dry before i drop it.

mine looks exactly the same. although yours looks a little more faded - might just be the light.

i was looking at my hood today thinking i should ask for comments and you have beaten me to it!

A good clean can help, I use a sponge and brush the BMW cleaner in one direction.
I noticed marks quite a lot like yours on my hood today, but only one side was that bad. I think a lot of it is how the light hits it, it could be how much dust/dirt is on it when folded down, I had only left it folded for one night and it was bone dry.

Same here. Well, it looked like that before the car was detailed last summer. A proper clean brought it up like new so I wouldn't worry about the creases. Not sure about the bobbling though?? Maybe need to experiment with cleaning technique/products as suggested above and possibly some light tape or something to remove the existing bobbles?

My hood always has fold marks like this, and I have noticed it on a lot of Z4s. I think it is probably inherent in the design, but does not appear to do any harm.

I agree with the others that your hood does look rather washed out.

I use the BMW cleaner and proofer once a year - strictly only the proper BMW stuff. This gets rid of the fold marks, but they reappear in no time. The cleaner can also leave the hood bobbly, because the clean removes loose fibres that naturally form into wee balls. I go over the hood with a vacuum cleaner before I clean it and then again before I proof it to get rid of all sorts of stuff.
