Hi all, seen wheel and tyre packages from our local Halfrauds for £300-£400 and was wondering if anyone rates them just as a get through winter option?-thanx

I would opt for 17" OEM/BMW wheels. You should be able to get a mint second hand set for around 150-200.

Most Halfords wheels are middle ground brand - fox, wolfrace etc.

So not bad; but for the price i would say they have ditchfinder rubber on them.

If YOU like 'em wear 'em, you're not driving the car for anyone else.

However, unless they are drop forged you will buckle them with your Z4 suspension; stick to OE or pay more and get better ones.

Besides... Halfords... Really?

An old boss once taught me..."Never tread on people on the way up, cos you might need 'em on the way back down"!

I drove the wifes 4x4 160 miles from Wales to Oxford the other night in seriously sub-zero temperatures and a with knackered thermostat (funny they never tell you these things!), so no heating whatsoever.....no tools on board either! But thanks to Halfrauds I managed to acquire a stat and the requisite 12mm spanner and swapped the damn thing in a blizzard in their car park as it got dark.....froze my cobs off but mmmmmm, toasty warm after just two miles!

God bless 'em.

And remember, its a bloody car, not a show poodle. :poke:

Oh and I'd be really surprised if the vast majority of ally wheels aren't drop forged.....other manufacturing methods might be slightly cheaper but are incredibly inefficient at the end of the day. Mind you, I suppose you're getting BMWs quality control aren't you. Halfords it is then!
