Are footwell cargo nets worth having?

Hi all seen a few pics on here with them in zeds,but are they worth having and are they easy to fit?-are there pre marked positions for the screws?
 
Yes, yes, no!

Mine used to hold my documents when driving abroad as there was nowhere else 'big' enough to store them.

Now it's for my iPad, which fits in it quite well and gives the passenger something to do other than complain about the speed I'm carrying through corners.

I've also fitted two to the side of my battery box to hold things that would normally rattle around - such as spare fuse & battery kits.

The carpeted box/bag is my 'emergency' kit containing quick detailer, micro fibre cloths, etc.
The black bag in the left corner is my oil top-up bottle which hasn't been touched since I bought the car.
 
Mine came with one, havnt used it yet, after 8 months of ownership. I'd recommend a leather z centre console or a extra first aid box if your looking for more storage room
 
I have never use mine......to be honest not much fits in them and they look tidy empty but untidy full......... save your money and buy a Cornetto instead. :thumbsup:
 
never, ever used them...probably cos my big fat belly won't let me bend at the waist
 
Have never used my cargo net, if that's what it is called. I prefer to store 'feet' in the footwell. And I wouldn't have one fitted for aesthetics given the fact that I didn't even know I had a cargo net until I read this post,..so neither will anybody else. Also, ..I don't know if they come in different sizes, but the one in mine is probably about big enough to store one bag of crisps.

Don't put crisps in there as the elastic is quite strong and will crush them. It's okay for rhubarb & custard's though :P

Just tested it, and I can confirm that you can safely fit a bag of Bacon Fries and a bag of Scampie Fries in there.
 
Thanks for the heads up. I don't eat Scampi Fries though cos they make your fingers smell like wee.

By the way, just looking at your photos,..I never knew the boot space was so small in the Coupe !? Another advantage of the Roadster me thinks.
 
I had the storage pack included on my e89 which i think was a con for the cost in relation to what you get. The luggage net in the passenger footwell i do use actually, the tray unit with 3 shelves that fits into the rear panel behind the seats has 3 fixed shelves; I'd be interested if anyone can find something useful that fits in there, other than 3 packs of hula hoops! It would have been useful if the shelves were adjustable. Hmm perhaps i'll take the chainsaw from the boot and fix that :evil:
The storage pack also has luggage straps on the floor but as i put in a hard boot liner, reason posted elsewhere, the straps are useless.

Best storage item i got for the car was the Roadsterbag luggage set, three cases shaped to fit the boot with the roof down, was invaluable on the last jaunt across europe and i managed to get 5 half cases of wine (30 bottles) and plenty of spirits in the boot too :) on the trip home.
 
i use my passenger net to hold a big bottle of evian.. but thats about it.

There are also pockets behind the seats... which i use to store a couple of A-Z and map of uk roads... can never be 100% dependent on sat nav :roll:

Thats an M Coupe's boot, so it has the battery in that big hump. The roadster M has the same problem. I think the M has enough advantages to counter this problem though.

As for the crisps debate - Monster Munch mmm, but you would eat them in your Z :o the mess :fuelfire:
 
In mine i have:

A cap for if it gets sunny etc, (i always forget)

one of those power convertors for the 12v to 240v things

an ipod charger.
 
i think they could be useful, but whatever you put in them is obviously on show, i prefer a no clutter policy in the vehicle personally.
 
Problem is they get baggy and untidy in time if you do use them.

I always used to keep acouple of maps in the nets on the back of the seats in a 5 series I had - ended up looking like a right dog's dinner :thumbsdown:
 
Pointless I'm the most part and allows more clutter to be stuffed in the car.
Inside boot as mmm has dome makes sense as out of sight and keeps essentials tied down.
