Are 3.0i and 3.0si rear springs the same?

Basically want to know if springs that were fitted to a 3.0si "sport" would fit onto a 3.0i "sport"? Anyone in the know?

All pre facelift 2003-2005 3.0i had 'sports' suspension.

For 2006-2009 cars, any car that had 'Sport' (not SE) spec had 'sport' suspension.

Of course are exceptions e.g. A 2007 SE car spec'd with 'sports' suspension, or a 2004 3.0i spec'd with normal suspension.

2.0i, 2.2i, 2.5i - non sport suspension.

2006-2009

Any 'Sport' model (across all engine designations) - sport suspension.

All SE models (unless individually spec'd with upgraded suspension) - non sport suspension.

Thanks for that. So a 2007 3.0si spec'd with sports will have the same springs as a 2003 3.0i, correct?

Aye that too. Any model could be spec'd with sport or non sport, or vice versa 8)
 
You can check part numbers from here http://2009.bmwfans.info/
Just compare different models.

But my quess would be that those are different if you mean prefacelift and facelift models..

That website doesn't actually have any part numbers for the rear spring for some reason.
 
Just rang BMW and confirmed the part number for a "sport" spring on a 3.0i and a 3.0si is the same! 33 53 6 761 926

The 3.0si came in two guises - "SE" and "Sport". 3.0si Sport and 3.0i springs are indeed the same.

However(!), 3.0si SE springs aren't the same as 3.0i springs.

Clear as mud. Yeah? :? :lol:

That's why I said a "sport" spring on a 3.0i AND a 3.0si are the same :wink: But yeah, I get where you're coming from. In the same sense, I guess a a 3.0si SE spring IS the same as a 2.2i WITHOUT SPORTS SUSPENSION, but now we're just getting complicated :rofl:
