I wanna get wider tyres on rear, national tyres said 275 would be ok what you think? Ive got csl style wheels, thanks!

What z you got buddy? I run 275s on my z4m with no problems but not all tyres are alike, the falkens I have in 275 are apparently a slim 275...

Ask National to give you that in writing, stating if/when they rub they'll replace them FOC - I bet they won't!

Doesn't mean they won't fit without rubbing, just means they can't guarantee it!

As I said in another post, I used to get the occasional 'rub' during hard driving (maybe once or twice on a 200 mile run, or at 2 places on the 'Ring) with 265/40r18 Pilot SuperSports, as the combination of wide tread & square shoulder doesn't help (although obviously helps with grip/handling). I've almost (99%) solved the issue now by fixing the alignment/geometry which was a bit out.

Ive got 19 inch wheels

Reckon id be ok on

245 35 19 front and
275 35 19 back or should I have 275 30 19 on back?

Was going for michelin super sports

What a bizarre thread. Summed up entirely by Marius last comment.

Seems a bit iffy the first three replies are made without any thought to basic questioning such as actual wheel size :( :(

Apologies of course if you all just happened to know what size wheels he had when the op doesn't...

It's all based on the assumption that CSL style wheels will be in CSL style sizes :P

Plus, even in general, you wouldn't put more than a 275 on a Z4M (which is what the OP has) as you'd either foul the suspension/arch.

I have no idea what the width of the wheels are but I doubt they are that wide, prob 8.5 front and 9.5 back tops

What actual advantage is there trying to run the widest tyre humanly possible on the rear? All I can see is extra weight and cost to be honest. I had 255s on the rear of the Z3 and gone down to 225 all round and the car just handles better.

Tim.

I think it would make little difference to grip as its the compound of the tyre that affects grip more than the width. 19" OEM CSLs were 8.5 front and 9.5 back, correct tyre widths I believe are 235/35r19 and 265/30r19

I think you would be hard pushed to see the difference between 265 & 275. To be honest, the only person that's going to really notice is the car behind, unless of course you want to stand behind your own car and drawl over those wide bad boys and I mean how sad is that :D
