I was having a chat with my AA neighbor yesterday and the subject of my ARB bushes being shot came up. He mentioned that maybe the fact that I'd dropped my car by 30mm from standard suspension may be putting additional stress on the ARB and in turn the bushes. Obviously the fact they're 13 years old has been taken into consideration, it was a thought on the lowering of the car.

My take is if there was any problem with lowering from standard suspension using the B12 kit I'm sure that the company would have stipulated other changes to keep all the tolerances correct, eg, drop link and ARB.

Any views or info on this?
 
I'm on B12 and have adjustable droplinks but they are completely unnecessary. Your bushes are a wear item and clearly original so they just need replacing. It's a cheap simple job so get on and change them then don't give it a second thought. I would recommend polybushes though as there's no increase in NVH and they'll stay much more effective for longer. :thumbsup:
 
Lowering the car has no (or virtually no) effect on the strain of the arb bushings.

Lowering the car does however put strain on the OEM trailing arm bushings.

Good point. I'll check the state of them as they're probably originals too.

It's next on my list. Going to order some poly bushes today and fit them this week.
