Hi all,

Does anyone have or know where I can find the full list of BMW-approved runflat tyres for a 2003 3.0L roadster?

Thanks in advance!

I've always used Event Tyres albeit for non runflat tyres for the Z3,

http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/

They do stock BMW approved runflats so if you put in your tyre sizes they also list runflats for BMWs. Can recommend them as they come to your house or work and use the correct Hoffman machines that don't damage the rims.

Why make a comment in the first place that's utterly useless. I don't need use silly emocions.

Most of the premium manufacturers make runflats which will be suitable although not all will carry the * star marking.
This means that they meet the original equipment BMW standards. Continental were one of the main suppliers along with Goodyear and to
a lesser degree Dunlop and Michelin. I have to admit though that I agree with many of the earlier posts, after having loads of BMWs including
three 5 series a 1 series and the Z4 they all drive better without them.

I switched to Michelin PS2 RFT s
transformed handling from OEM Bridgestones

RFT s are pricey compared to non RFTs

Thanks for the replies. Surely there is an actual list of approved tyres though? I have been on BMW's website and there is no info.

For now I'm sticking with RFTs - less hassle than roadside repairs plus the minor issue that MoreThan won't insure me without them.

Cheers.

Some may say it's a good thing, but it's members such as you Tim, that have made me less likely to visit and post on this forum, you show a complete lack of tolerance to others :poke:

Weren't Bridegstone Potenza the original run flats for the 3.0i ?

I'm not sure if a list of approved tyres exist, but pretty sure Bridgestone are the factory fit tyres

I suspect the list would be of manufacturers that were prepared to take a hit on their price for pre delivered vehicles in return for the likelihood of bountiful repeat business. We have no assurance the BMW actually tested any of the tyres against each other and chose by quality rather than value.

They certainly were FF on mine

There is a list that Dealers are advised to follow for fitting
Mine said the Michelin PS2 aren't on it but was happy to fit and wanted feedback for future use
Needless to say non RFT don't figure

Back on topic...

As far as I know (could find out) the only BMW approved runflats are Bridgestone RE050A - be careful when you look though as there are two versions - runflat and non-runflat.

Also, when you get your 107s tyre size will be 225/40/18 (front) and 255/35/18 (rear)

Try camskill.co.uk for reasonable prices, alternatively there's a guy on eBay selling genuine new tyres for sensible money - the best price I could find for two rears for mine was over £500. I ended up getting them for £360...
