Blimey, I'm scared to ask or post anything on this forum now :|

Early onset summer carmones are rife right now, it'll settle down when people start hooning again

I think our very own 007 is getting a tad peeved as he sold his appreciating assets at the wrong time and bought a depreciating one instead :(

What a strange guy. Basically peeved that people have an opinion on JE's thread which were mostly valid then comes on a thread which is totally legit and in the M section and moans we're going on about M's and offers no input or anything of relevance to the thread itself. And I thought 007 was supposed to be an intelligent chap :|

He's doing the same thing he accused everyone of doing to JE.

Anyway back on topic. Yes you are right these machines (dare I say M) are appreciating nicely. Thats the beauty of owning one. You can enjoy it then come sale time you haven't lost a penny. Well in most cases anyway.

Hi

Yes yes .. I apologize

One to many glasses of wine .. then the key board warrior comes out ( Mr Hide )

sorry folks .. promise to be more constructive and improve my manners

I hav'nt got one anymore but just my two-penneth, I think they'll be like the escort cosworth is now. The cossie dipped about 6 or 7 years ago I think it was to it's lowest price which never went below 10k for a reasonable one and now they're fetching strong money again, I reckon the M is at that point now and won't drop below 10k and will steadily climb over the next few years. The engine is just so good and they'll never make anything like it again so I reckon it'll keep a very strong following. I would have kept mine if at all poss for just having one, mad as a box of frogs cars!

Happy to be told I'm talking tripe as I'm no expert mind. Peace brothers and all that.

Just for completeness,Plowy, it might be worth moving your question over the the 'M Market Watch' thread, keep all of the chat in the same place?

Once I'd posted I thought it may fall better under that thread Steve TBH....

could be ... rings a bell that location ??

but have you seen the prices of S50 Mroadster recently .. even they are going for £18k - £20k

I know why I sold it now (Even though mine was ok) I got paranoid about rear sub frame spot weld failures and spinning a bearing

Yea....

I was thinking the same when i had mine...

The guy that bought my coupe still has it,i think i sold it for £10,800....probably worth more now, even though it was an S50.

Lots of talk of the cars value in twenty years, appreciating classic? This is just my view and could be wrong but I strongly believe there will be a turning point in that time. We are all heading toward electric vehicles, internet/wifi is being built into all cars in 2018 technology will quietly advance in the background, insurance companies will monitor every driver input. Government will turn the screws, Boris will ban everything other than electric in London and the rest will follow. In short, we're all screwed. We are in the last years of driving enjoyment, rag your car to bits, stop polishing it, grow a beard while they are trendy? Your car will be probably be a teapot.

Thoughts?

Thoughts... if the car of today as we know it ultimately becomes 'banned' or a thing of the past completely, that'll only make it more appealing to anyone with money. Whilst they can strive towards electric cars and the like, there's absolutely no chance the internal combustion engine will be banned from public use. It could be phased out, but again, that would only make it more desirable.

I've got a Mad Max image of petrolheads in my head now

Haha yes Mad Max.

There would be no petrol stations for the rich to use?
This is all pie in the sky stuff, but say that did happen... petrol was banned, not only would one of the worlds largest industries become obsolete overnight causing millions of job losses, but the old monster cars from yesteryear would be even more desirable. Picture a world like the Demolition Man movie, then imagine being that guy who has an old school 3.2 beaut of a sports car in his garage... people would pay through the nose to be that guy! However, personally I don't see this happening in our lifetime at least.
