Apple will be building Macs in the U.S.

I wish more british companies would do the same, although i think this just boils down to a PR exercise

I agree as Apple has received a lot of heat over the jobs that in the past they have moved overseas. That is one of the reasons that I believe the computer that will be made in the US will be the Mac Pro as it is a low volume high end computer with a starting price of $2,500 and going up to well over $5,000.
 
It's a good PR move for them, especially after the 'slavery' and child-labour stories in the Eastern iPhone factories. Slightly less change some Chinese worker is going to try to sell a piece of the Apple pie to another Chinese company so they can rip it off too.
 
Why do you think Foxconn has bought factories in Poland and Hungary? Just gets them inside the EU and increased labour offset by logistics and customs duty reductions
 
Been waiting for a decent Mac Pro since 2008.... with updates slipping over 18 months to 2 years. BS for creative professionals and the newer ones were much worse value for money.

Its probably to do with all the bad press from foxconn factories with members of staff committing suicide,dorms with suicide nets level of depression and poor working conditions.

There are rummors that Foxconn is the company that will be building the Mac at a new plant is the US somewhere. Well somewhere other than California where corp taxes are the highest is the US.

Makes a lot of sense for Apple in the US.

All the tech war PR this year with appl and samsung etc, seems like Intellectual Rights Patents aren't enough, probably easier to keep IP and manufacturing IP hidden. That goes for every industry, but none more relevant than the current tech industry.
Also, goes to show that the world is becoming a smaller place in terms of fewer places to exploit tax/resource/man power .

However, it would be a very a comforting note if apple did in fact decide that US economics was worth more than bottom line profits.
 
Also could be a move to keep products under wrap slightly easier. Holding cards close to the chest.
 
Based on apples pricing structure. I.E. Expensive. I thought they were always made in the USA and with union workers to boot. :o
