APPLE ISO-7 & New iPhone's

I'm in the same boat as others here, a 4S with ageing battery - love the phone but fancy a new one with tweaked screen, camera and longer battery life...

For sale shortly a mint 64Gb 4S in black ;)

I agree about the 5, the main reason for me not upgrading is there isnt really anything to upgrade to. My dad has a 5 feels no faster than mine, IOS7 runs really quick on my 4S. Also my 4S after 18 months still holds good all day charge and use it all day listening to music at work.

The product is finally tuned now, its time for a little bit of evolution. Wish Tim would move out of the comfort zone. Apple is too focused with numbers now and the mac side is failing.

Like the Mac pro it looks amazing, waited for it for 5 years, amazing spec, but when you delve deeper it is in essence a supercharged iMac with no screen, the upgrade path is minimal with it. Ram or expensive PCIX SSDs are the only upgradable items. Now to have a decent sized system you need to buy an array which is compatible with thunderbolt which a decent size say 8tb would cost a small fortune, and 8tb might last me 2 years. This is on top of the price of the desktop which will be 2-3k and then a good colour correct screen another 1k and I use two so 2k the total for a system could well over 5k without software and has a shelf life similar to that of an iMac. Yes its faster but pros need something they can rely on for a good amount of time up to a 4-5 year window, and apple care only gives you 3, with non serviceable parts if a graphics card goes you will have to lug the whole thing back to apple instead of just swapping it out at home. Just an annoyance really. But the iPhone has shown the way for all apple products in some ways great in some ways awful.

I'm sure the 5S will be a great performer but if they don't improve the quality of the materials I'm not sure I'll bother. The 5 feels cheap and nasty compared to the 4/4s.
.

I think the current iPhone 5 is a quality bit of kit! It's loads better than the 4 & 4s (which where awesome designs)

It's not the operational functionality of the phone I don't like, it's the cheap, flimsy feel it has relative to the 4/4s. Everyone I know who has one has complained about how easily it scratches and how tatty they look after little or no time. I've had my 4 for nearly 2 years now and it still looks great.

I have a bumper and screen protector on my 5, same style as my 4 before it.

Somehow my black 5 had picked up minute scratches on its bezel, which show silver through.... My 4 after 2 years looked perfect.

So i agree on how easily damaged the 5 is.

Looking forward to this. Either the new phone will be worth upgrading to, or it'll knock down the price of the iP5, making the upgrade to that more appealing

Not got mine yet! Probably be around 6pm in the uk :(

I must be a simple naive user. Had a 4 and loved it (which Mrs CJ now uses), have a 5 and love it. Daughters have a 4 and 5 between them. so we have 4 of them.

No problems, never fails to do what I need, although that can't be said for mobile operators around Europe at times :(
Apps do what I need, integrates to anything, connects to my cars, battery lasts all day, etc.

I'll certainly upload the latest IOS when available, but no doubt many will moan about its shortcomings.

and all the posts and emails complaining that the upgrade went wrong, made the phone too slow, ruined battery life or lost data came 8 days later

I have been told by my insider at the Apple store that the iP5 sees more returns for accidental damage due to it's crap material than any other iP.

As part of my job is designing mobile application we run all the current and most popular previous versions of iOS, Android and Windows mobile. They all just work now and most are more stable than iOS from a developers point of view. They have to be as they don't have such a strictly controlled environment. Using what you are comfortable with is important. However, Apple are really playing catch up these days even if we are talking about iOS7.

I can't wait for the iPad mini 2!

During my recent exam period, I somehow managed to get my hands on my mum's iPad, ran iOS 7 on it and it was surprisingly productive. (I've always had the view they're more for media consumption than productivity). How wrong I was.

For day to day note taking and such, with a suitable keyboard case, the iPad mini seems to do it all, and if the rumours are true, a retina display would definitely be the perfect device!

Lots of Anti Apple talk. Lol
But in the UK last month
1. iPhone 5 was the top seller, then the
2. iPhone 4S, then the
3. Samsung Galaxy
4. iPhone 4,
And the the rest in that order.

I just think not many people complain about Android based phones because not many people are buying them any more when u look at the figures.

At the end of the day there just phones and as customers we all have the choices to buy what suits our needs and style.

That's fine, but there's only one supplier of iPhones (with 3 models) whereas the many Android and Windows Phone devices are available from many companies so you wouldn't really expect a single Android or Windows Phone to be the best seller

If you look up the OS share for phones sold in the UK you'll see a different story

and this shows worldwide sales for Q1 2013.

Android is sitting pretty coming in with 3 out of 4 smartphones sold in Q1 of this year, within a three-month period 156-million Android OS smartphones were sold, which is impressive considering 210-millions smartphones were sold in this period
