Apple iphone snap in adaptor

Hi All
I see BMW have released this. Does anyone know if it fits on the z4? I keep reading conflicting reports, so I thought I would check.
Part number 84.10.9.182.792

Works out at £60

Really hope it does fit. BMW USA seem to list it for the z4, but not the UK dealers, maybe they have not checked?? ....

Just thought I would check to see if anyone on here has one!

Nick, sorry to jump in, but how do you find out about BMW's latest accessories? Is there an official accessories website? I've just had a look across BMW's main site and can't find anything other than a .pdf file for such things...

Apparently it does fit the Z4. My dealer is trying to get me one at the moment but has had to get it direct from Germany.

hi it does fit, but the iPhone itself is too wide for the eject box. I am talking to bimmernav at the moment to see if they can modify the eject box.

Good news - Bimmernav have been successful in modifying an eject box to take the Apple iphone snap in adapter for the Z4.

I have yet to receive the item but the job is done and I should have the modified eject box and new adapter within a couple of weeks.

I need to remove the existing eject box in order to fit the new one. I can't work out how to remove it from the car, though. It has been suggested that I can just tug it by pulling it upwards with my fingers, but has anyone done it before? I had a little tug, but it did not want to budge and I don't want to break anything!

Any more help and guidance with removing the original eject box would be much appreciated! :)

That is indeed how you remove it, gentle but firm pressure with your fingers and it eventually comes loose.

tsss Nick, you did not believe me when I told you that then? :D

Mine fell apart when I fitted the Intravee unit.

well i have just sucsessfully fitted one of these to my coupe last night, i went to the parts dept yesterday and had a long talk with the techies and decide to attack mine with a dremel and try my luck. my theory was if i buggered it up i would take the snap in adapter back and buy a new eject housing at £55 !!! so i started by looking at exactly what catches when trying to eject....sorry i should have pointed out that this does fit!!!! and the phone fits!!! its just stiff to remove the phone afterwards as its a couple of MM out..

i will provide a picture..

------------------------------------------------- top view of eject box! dremelled out area is not visible!!
-------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------- dremelled out the inside part of the sides of the eject top facia bit to the length of the iphone..
..../````````````````````````````\....

FYI i removed the eject box an then removed the top facia cover via 4x star screws..

result when all assembled and iphone snap in adapter fitted is a snug fit but no ttoo snug that the phone doesnt eject (if you dont dremel it out)

Overall im ecstatic with the outcome, and if/when i sell the car i can just the coin tray thing back in and you wouldnt not anything had been done.

as i say its a little tight(little) but doesnt mark the phone and personally i would prefer it to pinch rather than fly out and land somewhere in the car..

piccys to follow when i get back out to the garage ;)

best £60 spend.

cheers

Andy..

I fitted the eject box no problem by removing it with 2 credit cards as suggested and it slipped out just fine! I only exchanged the top rail of the eject box by unscrewing the torx screws! Job done! VERY happy man!

wooohoo, iphone in a Z4 ;)

now just pray they dont change the shape of the phone next month when the new one comes out? or sods law its the same length but thinner :headbang:
