Apple free navigation app - does it exist?

Is there an app that does not use roaming data to use as a backup to the garmin when driving abroad?

Mainly for driving and point of Interest.

Just worried that one day the garmin won't work and will get lost :)

Thanks

I use Waze. It's free and really good. No idea if it works outside of the UK though because never had cause to try it yet.
It should do. Used it in NYC a few years back.

Downloaded nav free for the country I am going to. Looks the business

Re google maps

How do you save the maps for offline use please?

I use waze abroad too and its great with traffic but it uses roaming data which the op doesnt want.

Shame google maps on ios isnt the same as andriod where you can predownload the map when you are at home and use it for nav later when on hols.

The alternative is download the map on wifi when you are on your hols and some of it does store on ios... Just not to the same degree of usefulness and andriod :(

Yes exactly i wanted a better solution to having to download a partial map and hoping for the best.

Will test nav Free and report back :)

What about TomTom? I know its not free (just under £30), but stores maps locally and I like their navigation devices.

Pull up the map of the area you want, swipe up and click save map for offline use. It saves all road details, and some other info, but yes, it isn't everything and all buildings etc, but good enough for navigation without Gbs of data stored offline that 99% wouldn't be needed. You can test it, download your area, go to flight mode then zoom and browse the map to see the level of detail.

I am using as a backup nav free and I must say it's excellent!

The gps zooms in on the current position immediately.

To recalculate a route after taking a different route from the one given takes some time so to solve I use the icon navigate to and it recalculates.

Certain features must be bought like parking zones, points of,interest etc.

For a free app it's tops. As a backup to my garmin it's excellent.
