Totally agree with you, Tom. I used to upgrade to the latest versions of Creative Suite (Macromedia Studio & Adobe before that) and Office every time. Before Adobe took over Macromedia it used to cost a few hundred quid in total every 18 months to 2 years. Afterwards - once they had the market cornered - the overall cost shot up to £1500 every year or so (the upgrade cost for CS5 to CS6 is £750 alone). With a limited budget I took the decision to keep the main software updated, but the rest has to wait... I'm doing it piece by piece, but I've got probably another 15 bits of software, all around the £100 mark which are all Rosetta based. I only use Office for my old emails, so it pains me to have to spend a chunk of £ on it....

Have you thought of subscribing to Adobe Creative Cloudinstead, as you can just 'rent' the items you need when you need them.

I am loving Airplay from my air, makes watching movies so much easier than connecting it upto a HDMI cable, it seems a better picture as well, Also Safari seems alot faster.
I am really impressed at how quickly the upgrade went, 15 minutes, start to finish, Windows would take hours and b*gger everything up along the way.

I'm glad it's not just me seeing Safari being quicker.
Must say I haven't been that impressed. Think my MBP was "just" too early to be compatible with the full screen airplay feature, that would've been nice. Other than that it's all a bit dull I'm afraid... That said, I am like a small child with these things, I want to see new whizz-bang stuff, although when it comes down to it speed and stability is the most important thing.

Have to say im a bit disappointed too. Seems Apples mantra is slipping. The essence of OSX... Its supposed to be refined and its getting very cluttered with all this crap they keep adding! Also this digital analogue style is getting really boring like the wood shelf in newsstand! Ye I mean it's almost insulting how long can they use that gimmick, people really aren't that thick lol!
They went so far to make the iOS experience completely different to the desktop and now they're making the desktop like the IOS... Seems counter intuitive.
Still the best digital platform by far! And obv I wont change! But a bit of the magic is gone attention to detail obsession. In that respect it kind of takes the piss for pro users it's more geared up for consumers now and a lot of pro customers are heading elsewhere.
Pro users are how apple got their start in the first place Nm. It has all the bells and whistles and I like the aeroplane mirroring. But I'm pretty sure if I told my boss the new OSX is geared up for social media there is no chance of an upgrade lol! And tbf if they are to continue upgrading the OS yearly then wel only see smaller and smaller changes. Think that's where the magic is lost not enough anticipation, and maybe too much expectation. Are they running out of ideas...??

Justnotes takes a little while to sync so I'll be giving the note app a shot.
