Are there any options to retrofit an Apple CarPlay device for the E89?

There are plenty of aftermarket head units that support Apple CarPlay (and/or Android Auto), but they'd simply replace what you already have (iDrive), and I'm thinking you want to 'upgrade' what you have to include CarPlay, rather than replace?
You may have to either choose to replace the whole iDrive system (your's is v3 I think) with a newer iDrive system (v5), or completely replace it with an aftermarket CarPlay system from Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood/Sony/etc.
