My friend has an S3, and it fits perfectly in my work trousers and jeans.
If i was a bird a wore skin tight jeans they wouldnt fit though - but then neither would an iphone!!
That being said i have invested so much time and effort into itunes i am locked into apple for life!

Picked up an S3 this morning after being unimpressed by Apples latest effort. I was a bit worried by it's massiveness as it looks huge on the shelf sat next to an iPhone 4s. I asked to see one out of the box, tried it in my hand and stuck it into my pocket no bother. It's about half the thickness and weight of the iPhone 4s so is actually less intrusive if you carry it in your trouser or shirt pocket.
Then again, it could just be that I'm a fully grown man with adult sized clothes and man sized hands so a larger phone doesn't bother me
The new nano looks nice, I like the look of it - but the iPhone5? That's ridiculously underwhelming. Polish a few edges and all the must-have first adopters are already queuing up to be separated from their £400 or £500. If you have a 4s, I don't understand why you would need to buy a 5 unless you're lucky enough that your contract was due for upgrade/renewal this morning.
I think there is an element of 'Emperors New Clothes' about the improvements on smartphones at the moment. The reality is the technology hasn't moved on much since I bought my 4. Certainly nowhere near enough for me to part with another £500 (I buy my phones outright).
Maybe when 4G becomes available on O2 I'll swap but not before. I'm locked in to O2 because my phone is a work phone - I bought the phone, they pay for my calls, texts, data and line rental.

If you're expecting revolution rather than evolution at every new Apple product release then you must be deluded.
Its got nothing to do with Apple. Every so often something game changing comes along, technology wise, to move peoples perceptions about what is a must-have product. We are in an era at the moment where that hasn't happened for a while. The smartphone business is moving into its maturity phase and out of its growth phase.
Erm. Android users are all tinkerers?That's a massive generalisation. My battery and memory card comments were an answer to your question about what I thought was missing, not innovation.
I use my iPhone a lot and it's battery is not up to requirements. Even apple fans concede that. You have to turn off functions to get a full day out of them if you're a moderate to heavy user. I'm lucky in that when I'm on the road I can dock it in the car and top up the charge. Turning off 3G to preserve battery life rather defeats the object of a smartphone. Having a spare battery would be useful.
As a creative person you'll know how big files can get, swapping a memory card between systems is the fastest method of moving them. Not everybody uses large files, but swapping music, movies etc off a home pc onto the phone is much quicker on a card. As to designing slim, that's not a valid argument. Look at the sim which is a side slot. Apple are masters of design and could build that in with very few problems. Your comment about profit is bang on. I know to the cent what memory costs and apple are taking the piss out of their customers over memory charges. That's why they won't put a slot in.

The battery on my 4s lasts 1/2 a day if not charged.
Turning off push gives me a day.
As i have a work phone it would be interesting to even ask Vodaphone if they could randomly give me a nano sim :roll:

Ye OG nailed it. Unfortunately for UK 4G is miles off except in what 12 cities?? And it will be an absolute premium for the first 3 years. 3G limits are still rubbish in the UK. I live in the sticks we only got 3G on 02 last month and its running like a hog, like barely works, constantly going down. But you cant blame apple for our poor service providers being miles behind and we paying an absolute premium for it.
You cant get away from how beautifully crafted and well designed the 5 is tho. So anal the attention to detail is staggering, the tolerances are measured in microns! ON A PHONE! As a designer I really appreciate it. It may not look staggeringly different. But it is redesigned from the ground up. To fit all that in such a thin design is amazing, the way the polished bezel works and contrasts with the aluminium outer shell is really nice too. Very contemporary and minimal, really nice I would also say the best looking iPhone to date by a long way, really nice to see aluminium back into the design. Its probably why we haven't seen a new camera because the sensor size and quality is determined by the distance between the lens and sensor, small sensors mean less distance. They went as far to design a new lens cover in house, all these industry specific manufacturing processes just for one product. How many companies go to such lengths? They just look in a parts bin from other manufactures, which is why you pay the premium. So I think it really is a nice touch. Then you see its twice as powerful and has more battery life, I don't ask for more. Really nice upgrade to anyone from a 3GS or 4. Maybe not a 4s but still a nice upgrade for the tech obsessed all the same.
The problem is IOS6 will run like a hog on the iPhone 4. Like IOS5 worked on a 3GS which is why I upgraded to the 4s. We consume tech at such an alarming rate these upgrades are necessary to be able to run the applications which are becoming more and more intensive. So the 'barely any upgrade' arguments will become apparent in the next 6 months for those users when they update the OS. You also have to see it is a turbulent time atm for all the companies because they were all relying on each other for specific features, now they are all going down their own paths down to Apple and its legal actions, so a lot has gone into making Apple quality aps so you don't have to rely on others. Like the Maps which is free sat nav and the view is really very cool. Puts google maps to shame.
The S3 isnt anywhere near the build quality and feel. It feels cheap, that doesn't fit well with me. The screen is also far too big for a mobile device, you cant comfortably use it with one hand, might fit in your jeans but only just. Its a good product but not at the same level.

Not all, I said android users on the forum which isn't a generalisation at all. Non of you like the closed system that Apple has put into its system. Its not going to change accept it. I bet most that have an iPhone have it jail broken on here. I just dont find it necessary.

My devices aren't jail broken. I don't see the need to. Apple's walled garden approach is also fine if they maintain the quality which, based on some iOS apps that are known to be fraudulent, is not 100% at the moment. Their design quality is not questioned. My original comment still stands, and is well proven in this thread, that apple fans get quite heated when anybody criticises apple regardless of what the criticism is. Seems that the android camp can join in too!
I dont think heated is the right word. The fact is people are very quick to criticise before it even hits the hands of people and write it off, the expectation is such that they will be disappointed. But also wishing things that are not in the companies interest is silly too, it always has been the way, and this has brought them to the top of the market, so why they would change now?
