Apple announcement

Nah there wont - parents will fork out on credit to get their little darlings what they want, friend of mine works for Barclaycard and says its unreal the amount of people wanting finance for an iPhone!

The new iPod does look nice however.

Citation650 - LOL!!! Yeah the church of Steve Jobs was keeping them in check. Just look at the revolutionary technology they can come up with when left to roam free. I cant wait to see what the 5s will offer.... maybe they'll stretch the phone out a little bit more, add another button on the side of it, change the port again and call it Flash Lightning, maybe they'll stick some go faster stripes on the side too....

As for my Desire, 2 years in, no faults, no crashes, no problems, dropped and bounced off walls many a time, still works fine!!

We made our Flash developer redundant nearly 3 years ago. If a client asks me for something in Flash now I struggle not to laugh while saying NO!

Long-time Apple fan and must admit that I'm a bit underwhelmed by the iPhone 5..... Will stick to my 4s and hope they come up with something truly innovative again in the near future.

What a bunch of absolute geeks some of you lot are! Over a person's choice of phone technology?! It's not people who buy Apples who amuse me - it's those who get so passionately wound up over it. Choose a phone that suits your needs, buy it, enjoy it and upgrade when it no longer meets your requirements. Oh and if you're a sad nerd, ridicule strangers on the internet who don't agree with your personal choice, even if they're perfectly happy with theirs!

Not sure what your after... People expect too much as I said innovation doesn't happen over night. Its a very polished product.

It looks fantastic, awesome camera res, its a proper sensor, 16:9, 2x graphics and processor performance. As Jony Ive put it - "We take changing the iPhone really seriously. We don't want to just make a new phone, we want to make a much better phone." IOS6 looks great too.

I'll stick with my iPhone 4 I think. Not enough here to tempt me. I'm no Apple
Fanboy either - its the only Apple product I own apart from a 7-year old Nano.

I think smartphones have all got a bit old hat to be honest. Everyone is waiting for the next game-changer I think but this definitely isn't it.

Replaceable battery and a memory card would be nice. Simple, useful things that also enhance the user experience. The panoramic camera function is in the 4s but turned off in iOS. It can be turned on by altering a config file in backup and restoring it.

And I work for a company that enables a great deal of the innovation in the world's computers, whatever their flavour and including apple...

great news conference.... The iPhone 4S 16Gig is $100 cheaper, just in time for me to get one. :D

the iPhone 5 is $100 more and I'd need to spend about $70 for the adapters, for some features I don't need.

Hard decision, Spend $100 or spend $270 for virtually the same gadget, ooh pinch me I don't know what to do.

Note: I already carry a phone and an iPod touch, now I can combine all the crap in my pockets, car storage etc into one gadget...except my camera, its a real one

Thats the innovation your after...

Memory card will never happen. Simply because it would ruin the product designation, therefore less profit. It would also go against the design mantra, holes and doors are a no no. Sleek and elegant is what they are after, if you want a product that has every option like a swiss army knife then the iPhones not for you, But i remember buying nokias that were modern mutimeida phones before the iphone and had all the options you speak of and everyone broke.. be it a screen, the doors, the buttons etc. Less is more take it or leave it.

Replaceable battery would be nice but unnecessary, I dont know anyone that keeps a phone long enough to need a replacement. 12-18 months is the average life for a phone, if that. Plus its another design stage and part of manufacturing that would be added, and also means the phone is easier to get into which again they dont want.

Its a closed system but I personally dont see the problem with it. Im not a humongous tinkerer if you want to do that again buy an android.

I think thats half the problem with these arguments the 75% of people that these are targeted toward dont exist on here. You are all tinkeres, I just want something reliable and it works. Had every generation of iPhone and its never failed me and is integrated into all of my products. As im in the design industry it is standard, so all of my products have been apple. Been an apple guy 8 years now and Ive never had one product go wrong or fail, and have owned nearly all of them.

Anything is possible with software there are plenty of panorama aps also not an issue.

So what else is it missing?

i admit that i was one of those guys who sat in front of the laptop from 5-8.30 listening to the CNET live blog, yes i know its sad  i was going to buy this phone if it had something special but every rumor was true. so its a iphone 4 that's been stretched, that's pretty much it. every other super expensive smartphone moved into HD displays last year but apple have stuck with the standard definition yet again!!! how far are they willing to fall behind???

so my new phone is going to be the nokia lumia 920. looks like its going to be a real contender this year. also android jellybean is meant to make IOS look s**t when its released in a few month

I agree as almost everyone I know that has an android is a tinker where I just want a phone that works well as a phone and then integrates with my computer without any issues.

anyone running a Windows phone such as an HTC? frankly I much prefer it than I phone (which I have for work) - mostly because apple just annoys the hell out of me in the same way Audi does :P

My jailbroken 4s already had the panorama function ;)

Personally i like 5, prob wont get one until the 5s though.

I like the new ipod touch more though, that is damn sexy.

If I was even tempted by the Samsung S3 I'd buy an iPad.....

With the S3, I'd need to buy a man bag just to carry the thing. I hear the next Samsung is 48" widescreen with full HD and a talking parrot :fuelfire:
