Apple announcement

The new connector is a digital out and thus I wonder if this is the crunch, maybe the adapter is a DAC?
 
With the reduction of the 4, I will get another one of those for family members on a sim only contract.

Has the longest battery life as well by 30%.
 
Surely no-one can be surprised by the adapter price? That's the Apple business model and eco-system. Once you are bought in you need to pay Apple for everything. Even the third party suppliers have to pay Apple royalties.
 
For the iPhone 4 I needed an adapter as well to be able to charge the iPhone from the Intravee. I assume it will be the same for the iPhone 5 and adapter?

Just found out, that my contract is up for renewal at the end of december :roll: But at this moment I don't feel the need to change, iPhone 4 is working fine for me :)
 
Until IOS6 cripples the iPhone 4. It may be compatible but whether it runs well is another question. IOS5 runs like a hog on 3GS so I expect the same of IOS6 and the 4.
 
I have an iPhone 4 which works well for me except it is only 16 GB and I am out of room. I will likely at some point after the dust clears and all of the adapters are available upgrade to the 5 with 64 GB.

Ye it will go from a very good performer to a bit sluggish. I found this on my 3gs which really annoyed me. But unfortunately it is progress, with the rate we consume the tech it needs to be more powerful to cope with the new IOS and offer the same if not better performance to the previous IOS. Which is where the older tech struggle especially at 3+ years old. But it needs to be supported as so many people have them.

Its a good idea to usually go for the S version they are better have the kinks ironed out, although this is a more polished version of the 4. So will wait the 18 months for 5s unless I get a good deal as my contract isnt attached to the phone I purchased it and is ready for upgrade. So if they give me a good deal il sell my 4s and that will pay for the upgrade a probably put £150 in my pocket.

With the first iPhone I bought, I payed for it outright and sold it 6 months later and made £100 profit but the demand isnt quite the same and people will wait I suppose.
 
It depends how multi threaded iOS 6 is in use. If it can use all the cores of the A6 then it will most definitely run better on the 5 over the 4S. If it doesn't spool threads all over the place then it'll probably be fine on the 4S. It's a combination of speed and cores vs what the OS can actually use.
 
Just pre-ordered the 5 on the 02 website for next week delivery. I have only just received a pre-order text from 02 and 2 mins later on their website the 64mb black was already out of stock so looks like they're going fast :cry:

I would wait for the 5s but have been waiting for the 5 for so long as had my 3g since 2007 :)

If the 5 hadn't appeared this month I would have switched to the Samsung Galaxy as was getting tired of waiting.
