Apex ARC 8 wheels (18")

If anyone is selling a set I'd be interested in seeing pics and prices :)

- Fronts must be 8.5" with ET35-38
- Rears must be 9.5" with ET22-25
- Preferably in a grey colour, but I'd consider sorting this myself

Thanks!

Oooh go for 10j rears, you won't regret it! I've got 8.5j front 10j rear Pex ec-7s - absolutely love them - I wish they were a bit wider at the front in fact - I wanted a bit more concavity!

Lovely choice though op - arc-8s are awesome - good luck with the search!

[ref]Ed Doe[/ref] Thanks for the reply! I'd love to go as wide as possible, but also don't want any rubbing, ever, and don't want to have to dial camber in for arch clearance. If someone else (who I trust!) with a Z4M can tell me that the 10j gives no issues, I'd consider it. The Apex website gives "direct fitment" sizes though, which is handy. I bet 10j would look great though!

Well I can confirm categorically that 10j doesn't rub at the rear, even with 265/40/18 tyres fitted (which I have) - although my arches at the rear do appear to have been very slightly rolled to accommodate the tyres. I'm sure a 255 section rear would fit no issue.

I can't confirm if 9j fronts fit without rubbing - I know the guys in America fit them, but no direct feedback on how they were made to fit....

[ref]Ed Doe[/ref] Thanks for this feedback, it's really helpful. They do look good on your car! Are yours anthracite? What have you done suspension-wise?

No problem - I have to say I think your choice of arc-8s is a good one - they're probably still my face wheel for the Z4 8)

I wasn't initially that keen on the ec-7s from pics but in the metal they're great! Pretyy sure they're anthracite but not certain.

Suspension wise it's running intrax 1k2 coilovers - I'd need to check the spring rates, can't remember what they are now! Geo fully set up by Centre Gravity - again I can dig the specs out if you want?

Just out of interest I dug out the pics of the car I always wanted mine to look like, along with the specs on the wheels;

ARC-8's in 18x9.5" ET22 and 18x10" ET25 in the Hyper Black finish with 245/40/18 and 285/35/18 Hankook RS3 tires. Kw Clubsport coilovers and Ground Control camber plates with -2.8 front camber and -2.3 rear camber.

Imo it just looks so right - nice bit of concavity on the fronts. But I really don't know what the state of the front arch liners is

If you want an idea of how the more aggressive apex fitments might work on the M then try putting a rear wheel on the front. You can obviously fit a different tyre to the stock 255/40 but I reckon you’ll need to add a bit of camber via adjustable top mounts to make it driveable.

[ref]Ed Doe[/ref] It's hard to believe that that American coupé has the sort of functional suspension travel needed for sending a car down a lumpy bumpy UK road on a fun drive, isn't it? Looks good though! Thanks for unearthing that information too. It all helps to build a picture.

I'll happily fit coilovers to get things just as I'd like, so your geometry info would be interesting to see if it's to hand? I've never really gone to town on sorting wheel fitment and ride height as I've always played it safe in the past, but would like to get things tucked in a bit more tightly on the M when it comes to pushing the wheels out and tweaking the ride height.

Thanks for that idea. I'll be interested to see what can be achieved (in terms of wheel size, ride height and no rubbing) without going away from the factory geometry. I could do with researching "recommended" geometry as well, to see what acceptable changes can be made without negatively impacting the factory handling. Perhaps some of these recommended changes entail additional negative camber relative to the factory setup?

I have a pair of 8.5" spare, used for a 100 miles or so, boxed and unmarked. Unfortunately in (hyper) silver. £500, let me know if of interest.

[ref]TomK[/ref] Hi Tom, thanks for the reply. Can I ask why you're selling after 100 miles of use? Also where are you in the country?

I have a few sets.
The wheels mentioned are in my office, in London. They're boxed up so happy to post.

[ref]TomK[/ref] I think it's a good offer for their age, but it would leave me needing to find a pair of rears and then needing to pay for a colour change for the whole lot, so a bit of a false economy when all's said and done. If I wanted silver I would have gone for yours :) So I may regret this, but I'll keep looking for now. Thanks for getting in touch!

Not at all. The colour change makes it a bit of a no go, I thought that.
Good luck in your search.

[ref]RichieP[/ref] Hi Richie, have you gone for a square setup then? Your offset and width is different to what I'm thinking of for mine, but I hope I get to see pics of your car with them fitted!

I’ve got 10” ET 25 for the rears, The front 9” ET25 are concave matching the rears, it’s going to be close on rubbing so i need a rounded edge tyre, Yeah I take some photos to show you, but it’s not going to happen quickly, a month or so,’as I want to fit a new suspension first.

Can you keep us updated when you've got them fitted - I'm interested to see how you get on with the 9J fronts - I really do want to beef up from the 8.5s I currently have!
