Hi, sure this info is somewhere on here but would appreciate feedback.
Looking at Apex 18 x 9 ET 30 square set up on Msport suspension 2003 E85. Advice on Tyre size at front, concerns are rubbing when applying lock.
Any opinion on 17 x 9 ET30, lighter wheel but disadvantages?
Many thanks.

9j et 30 front on your E85 is not a good idea  without fitting a tyre with stretch perhaps 225 40 ? 235 35 ? i can't see how you wouldn't foul the arch on lock or compression :? 8.5j et34 i would class as the borderline of tolerance , any wider or lower offset would be iffy & 9j et30 is doing both .
Pity you can't borrow a rear 224 as they are those numbers though the 255 40 18 tyre would 100% remove the arch liner :P or throw a 30mm spacer :o behind a 108 or mv2 which will give you the position the wheelface would be at

Thanks Mr Wilks, limited supplies of wheels over here in NZ, don’t want to make a mistake.

18x9 is very aggressive for a non-M.
I ran M224s on my si which are 8j et42, with a 10mm spacer (making them effectively ET 32) - they fit well but rubbed away a bit of the outer edge of the arch liner behind the headlight. Tyres were oe si sizes - 225/40/18. They were fine in terms of clearance to the damper body but I doubt 9j would clear it!

Edit - try willtheyfit.com - very helpful working out what you can run.

I took some snapshots of the comparison between my m224 with 10mm spacer and oe si tyre size, and what you're proposing to run with a guesstimate of tyre size...

The wheels I'm pretty sure will protrude out of the arch - it'll be bloody close either way, and the measurement from inner face to strut is also something that definitely needs checking!

Thanks Ed, hard to buy anything off the shelf here so trying to see what I can make work around availability in the country.

Yeah fair enough! You may be able to switch to z4m hubs and struts, you'd need M wishbones too so might end up pricey. I know of some Ms in the US running 9.5j fronts but think the arch liners were removed and I know they were running adjustable camber top mounts with a lot of negative camber to make it work! Fine for a track car, not so great for the road!!

Edit - image below shows the wheel and tyre specs of the car I was thinking of :) Screenshot_20200715_085117.jpg

Back to the drawing board. Thanks for the input

Many Thanks Ed for taking the time to reply, very helpful.

Apex have a great guide on their site showing different wheel and tyre options and which may rub...
