I bought a set of AP racing 6 pot brakes a while ago and they arrived today!

These are the same spec: http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/654776.htm

I will get a picture of them up tonight so you get an idea of the size..... THE ARE MASSIVE!

So yes, I am chuffed! Also I noted very few if anyone has upgraded their 4M brakes..? Anyone on here who has with opinions before and after?

Thanks,

Jack

Going to give them a proper clean up tomorrow and then they will get fitted on Wednesday.

Nice one £1200 is about the going rate for a 2nd hand set of fronts and they look in good nick so well done.

I missed out on a full set of fronts and rears for £1200 a few months ago!!! :(

You going to get the rears? Do you know that you can just get the rear calipers?1

I saw those fronts and rears for £1200 also I think and missed them too!

Thing is these have hardly been used and as such the pads have less than 10% wear so I thought £1200 wasn't too bad.

I wasn't aware of that! What is the cost of just the rear calipers and where can I get them from? I will definitely be looking to expand the setup to front and rear!

They will look stunning when on, what wheels are you running?

Yeah the rear calipers are approx £450 and use your existing discs. Also the Rear AP discs crack, I have seen about 5 sets which have done this!!! :o

I think Thorney's sell just the rears, or was it Simpsons. :D

Alright I was a bit out on price :)

£645 isn't to bad as you get the pads with them as well. Also for an extra £20 you can have them done RED to match your fronts. :D

£645 Exc VAT... So £741 with VAT.

Quite pricey when the BMW performance 6 POT fronts are £750!! :o

Still, I will probably end up with a set...

Pic of my car for you David... It has genuine CSL's

Car looks lovely mate! 8) You gonna lower it?

Yeah I think they are a bit pricey to be honest, but once on will look stunning.

The only trouble is that the front discs are plain and the rears are drilled!

I have another option which I have nearly ready to fit. Very keenly priced option too. 4 pots up front though, not 6, but as I say, the price is a fair bit less than the APs. Saying that though, those are gorgeous, and will stop and look the business!

Good kit - good price well done.

And they work well.

What pads are you planning on?

I have considered it, however I have been attempting to abstain from modifying this car... (Lasted a month)

If I do lower it I will likely go for the H&R springs, had coil overs on previous cars and I actually think the Z4 handles well OEM. I was trying to have this car as a stop gap because what I really want is a Ferrari 355 - So modifying is eating into my funds for it!

As for the brakes, even if I do go for the uprated rears it will be running on standard discs!

Another mod I had considered was doing the wheels in gloss white for the motorsport look....

Looks great, what kind of spacers do you need to place it (or none)?

No spacers needed for the CSL wheels :D

Sounds good, assuming you are going for a Brembo caliper? At any rate they are still going to work better than the standard calipers which are tiny for such a highly powered car!

I already have the Ferrodo DS2500's. I am hoping they will be good as I have heard great things about them!

Plus at £220 a set they should be bloody brilliant

Thanks,

Jack

More information? AP are probably overkill for me :).

AP calipers look lovely - I had red 4-pots on the front of my Ibiza Cupra that I sold to get my Z4 - on a car weighing 1240kgs they worked rather well with 312mm discs...

These...

...are what I had on this...

...which helped keep 911s honest on the track (plus a little bit of breathing help from Dr Schrick) :P
