AP coilovers

Hi guys

Seen a car I like the looks of and it has AP coilovers on it. Are these a decent make of coilover or would they be better off changed over to something better?

New, it looks like they’re £500 and TUV approved so I’d hope they would be better than the original suspension they’ve replaced.

Can’t vouch for their comfort or race track suitability.
 
Not looking to track the car. I have my bikes for that.
German made so hopefully decent enough.
Car is 300 miles away so want to make sure it would be worth the trip.
 
AP are a budget brand as far as I'm aware, so they'll be fine for normal road driving, but may seize up eventually (winter driving in salty roads kills cheap coilovers). Will be OK to drive on though and I guess you could keep in top of cleaning them if worried about seizing?

Car would be used as a toy/weekend car and in the garage the rest of the time as have another car for the normal stuff.

I could use it as is and if need be change over to Blisteins over the winter months
 
AP coilovers are made by KW Suspension.

It is their most budget subsidiary, after ST Suspension and Weitec Suspension.

AP are popular in the Golf scene, not a bad coilover but lack the patented Inox qualities of KW Suspension.

Depends on your budget, but if it was me I would swap them out for KWs, but then having said that I wouldn’t bother with KWs or coilovers for that matter on a non-M car.

Not worth the money imo.

If I ever had another non-M Z4 and needed to refresh the suspension I would opt for OE Sport shocks and springs.

The Sport suspension on my 30,000 miler Z4C was good enough for my use.

Damn! Wish I'd asked you before putting koni yellows on my non-M coupe. What on earth was I thinking? :headbang:
