AP BBK Kit on a Z4M

I spoke to the person who was in charge of the installation and he told me that they tested it and although the clearance between caliper and rim is minimal he said the system works fine.

I will meet him again on Monday but Intend to drive the thing during the weekend!

Oops! I have just taken delivery of both the front and rear kits based on an AP employee's opinion that both kits are a direct replacement (no spacers required) of the OEM parts. Is it certain that the front kit fits? Pls understand my ignorance in terms of understanding the pdf AP analysis as to whether wheel clearance is fine...!

Welcome to the forum mate.

With reference to your questions above and assuming it's the M3/CSL kit you bought, i'm afraid you will have to make a few modifications before the kit can fit on your car. All the points below relate to the fronts (356mm) as i believe the rears are a direct fit without any modifications.

(1) The Bells (black centre of the disc which attaches to the hup) will need to be changed as part no for the Z4M is different to the e46. I beleive the revised Bell for the Z4M allows more clearance between the disc and wishbone/lower arm of the car.
(2) Bolts will also need to be changed as again the part for the Z4M is different.
(3) You may also want to consider 19" or a different set of 18" rims such as BBS which give more BBKs clearance as the stock wheels will not/marginally clear the discs (1-2mm at best).

I've spoken to AP directly and that's where the above guidance comes from. I have the part no's for (1) and (2) above and will post them up tomorrow.

Finally managed to shoe horn these onto the car, albeit with 5mm spacers on the front to clear the callipers. Haven't really tested them but initial observations are, bite is way sharper than stock...

I have a set of light weight wheels on order (17lb and 19lb :) )so with abit of luck they will clear the callipers without a need for spacers.
