Good outcome. I would have thought before they had acted they would have checked a copy of the legal document to make sure that what they were asking for was right.

So it turns out it was their fault in the first place, they signed something they didn't read. They sound like lovely people who wanted to put something in to basically pi$$ off the previous owner and probably put other, decent folks like yourselves from moving in to the property. Makes me wonder if the solicitor actually worded it that way in order to stop any further legalities. If it wasn't their land then I don't think they could say you can't do this or that hence the wording.

I'm sure going forward you can have a better relationship with them than the previous owner and all will be well.

Great outcome. Keeping good neighbours is really important to long term harmony and general lack of stress.

Totally agree. We've loved living in this peaceful little Close up until now and will hopefully continue to do so.

Because they've been quietly seething over us supposedly breaching a covenant that didn't actually exist? Don't know. I've given all of the facts as I understand them and it's thankfully now all over.

Yes, they sent the letter. They also knew the old owners had moved out as we've been living next door to them for nearly 18 months and the letter was addressed to us by name.

After this, I've totally given up trying to understand people and their motives! :roll:
