So - i got my roof fixed today - - wayhay !!! Found a good indie in Blackpool and he quoted £250 to fit

but --- the 3 lights on my dash he says mean that the unit is buggered and i need a new one. £850 ...

Does anyone one have a working one that they would be happy to sell ?

It is possible to recondition the DSC unit as well. I have the same issue and my mechanic said it is better to recondition it rather than put in a used one. I will probably send mine to the UK for recondition and it will come with 2 years guarantee for ~200-300 pounds.

oooh- do you have the address of the refurb company ?

actually -- it looks like this

there is one one ebay - I may go for the remanufactured version

I contacted 2 companies myself ( apart from the one my mechanic deals with) .

Here they are:

1. ecu testing ltd : http://www.ecutesting.com/
also have listings in ebay uk :

The first one actually gives lifetime guarantee. I asked about that for clarification and basically as long as you return the dsc with the same no. it will be repaired if faulty.
The second one gives 1 year guarantee but is cheaper. My mechanic's one was the most expensive for 2 years guarantee at approximately 300 pounds.

If you decide to re-manufacture it let me know how it went. The downside for me is that it will take ~ 10 days for the unit to get to the UK , get re-manufactured and come back and also the shipping costs are a bit expensive as it will have to be DHL and it is a heavy item. So it would be nice to know that it does actually worth it. The good thing is that my problem is not permanent yet .

in case anyone needs to know -

have DSC units in stock and will dispatch to you conditional that you post your old one on to them - in stead of you taking yours off and posting it to get yours re manufactured

its taken a long old time to locate the correct one.

I also have a spare DSC that will fit an older 2003 2.5 z4 that i believe works

ordered, and paid for , will be delivered whilst im in the US so will be fitted the week after, I will keep you informed, I know you are looking for a good solution

ah well, i have finally sourced one of these bad boys (i think) after numerous false starts.

these are officially as rare as rocking horse sh*t.

£2k from BMW for the pump and controller, £300 if you can find a second hand or a refurb one that matches your car - there are literally dozens of variants.

I did contemplate a winter without dsc but several interesting moments that reminded me of ford capri ownership of old convinced me otherwise. ( one example was when I joined the M6 at speed in the rain and had the back end breakaway.....)
