The one on the passenger side has scratches and the paint is quite worn.. would like to change it
Has anyone tried?

Yes - it's really easy.
Buy a new one from BMW and you will see how it fits.
Basically slide it up the door if it will move, then lever the lower edge out with a flat blade and it will come off.

Replace by sliding it in to avoid breaking any of the tabs off

awesome was going to ask about this as well. is the handle pricey (any experience of buying and or part numbers would be nice) as i was going to just spray it. (i realise this would loose the finish but a body coloured or silver cover wouldnt look to bad)

one last thing, is it easy to break when prying it off?

pablo - IIRC about £18 each from the stearlership. Not worth trying to sray them as rings, keys, etc. wil scratch it too easily.

and yes they are easy to damage in particular when trying to refit if you just press it on instead of sliding into place.

thanks for all that ill order mine tomorrow.

no rings or keys in my hands i hate marking the interior! but saves the hassle of spraying at that price :)

Thanks but I actually ment the "opening" moving handle that you open the door with :D

OK - Then it's just as easy. Pull the cover plug out. BMW I think suggest using a stickly substance, but that never worked for me. I normally use a very thin craft knife blade. Undo a single retaining screw and the whole handle pulls out, rear end first. The cable just unclips. :)

Let me correct the method - you should prise the housing out from the front, not the rear. ie nearest to the hinged end of the door
