Anyone used http://www.cmwheels.com/ for CSL reps?

Hi Guys,

Lots of love for BM Wheels on the forum but they don't have what I need in stock.....was gonna get the Atomic CSL.

I need new tyres and have decided to get some 19 CSL reps.....anyone have experience of these: http://www.cmwheels.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_91_93_339&product_id=881 in Hyper Black? Is hyper black the same as shadow black?

I have eibach lowering springs which I think have lowered by 1-3 cm so was going to go with MPSS in these sizes....

Front 225-35-R19
Rear 255-30-R19

Anything I should worry about? I don't want any rubbing

You'll be fine with those wheels, they're the most common offsets for the CSL reps and I've seen lots of positive feedback for CM wheels.
You really want to go with 235/35/19 - 265/30/19 tyres.

Hi Stu, I have recently purchased a set of CSL reps in Hyper Black from CMWheels that I still haven't put on. The wheels themselves look great. I can't help you with and rubbing issues you might or might not have though.

I see you have H&R springs on yours with these wheels (mine are the Eibach and I think the drop is a little less with these). Do you have any rubbing at all and did you notice degradation in ride when moving up to 19s with thinner tyres....

No rubbing at all. I can't comment on the difference in ride as the wheels were on the car when I bought it. Its not particularly harsh IMO.

In my experience, with those exact same fronts, you might still get some rubbing. Depends on what the roads are like around your way. Unfortunately my bit of the world is not blessed with the greatest roads and on one particular stretch with lots of subsidence dips, I still got brief rubbing. I originally started with 235's which were horrendous and moved down to 225's which were much better, but not a total cure.

In terms of ride quality, it depends where your personal calibration is and what your driving style is... Moving to shallower tyre walls will definitely not improve the ride, and unless you read the road ahead and actively avoid anything that looks even vaguely like a pothole, you will notice that the thumps and bumps are a little firmer.

Got mine from CM and the finish was so poor I had to get them refurbished. The guys who did them said there was so little paint on them that you were basically looking at the primer, which is why they were so dull. That said, I do seem to be in the minority as many others give them great reviews.

Personally, I'd never buy unbranded reps again.

Well you learn something every day - I knew the rear track differed, but thought the front was the same?

I've had some major rubbing issues with my CSL reps. I had 235/35 at the front and have recently replaced them with 215/35 - if you read this thread you get an idea of the problem, with loads of forum members offering advice.

What it finally came down to was the size of the alloy. My CSL reps (at the front) were 8J...most are 8.5J. Because of that I could stretch the 215s over the rim and have had no problem since. If you get 8.5J you should have no problem with the 225s.

Its worth mentioning I'm on Eibach lowering springs.
