so in 09 im thinking of running a z4m trackday?? im happy to organise, whos up for it?? the tracks will be either silverstone, donnington, or curborough sprint course in fradly. the last one's very cheap to get hold of the other two are more easy to get to for most people. if anyones up for this let me no. and chuck some ideas my way.

Curborough might be a little small to have much fun - and there's not a lot of space if things go wrong.

Silverstone is very expensive, but the International or Historic GP circuit are the ones to go for.

Donington International circuit (not the GP circuit) would be a good compromise as it's got some fast bits without two extra heaving braking points that add nothing to the experience.

Bedford Autodrome is a good, safe venue due to having loads of run-off, but it's a bit featureless.

Oulton Park (GP) is my local track and I love it, as I do Anglesey (Coastal) - but they're probably too far north and west respectively for a lot of people.

Anglesey (just after it underwent a huge redevelopment)

And where else would you get a view as good as this?

Oulton Park from my usual spot - that's where Tom Onslowe-Cole decided to ram our marshal's post

The cheapest prices will be mid-week (i.e. Tue/Wed/Thur) which might make it a pain for people who've still got jobs :P , and Mon/Fri will be the next cheapest with Sat/Sun being peak prices - although off-season booking are always cheaper than mid-summer bookings.

Depending on the responses you get here (i.e. less than 20), it may be cheaper & easier to get one of the track day companies (Bookatrack are my favourite) to do a 20 minute Z4-Forum only session every hour. That way you don't have to worry about booking anything, and each owner pays directly to the track day company.

There was quite a long thread a few months back on trackdays and what the general concensus was http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7466 I can merge the two threads if you like?

dont think it would be a prob david, right ive ran curborough before and i have to say of you take it easy its fine!!! but like everywhere you need to be careful, i'll look at some options and get back to everyone!!! to be honest the Z4M community is so small it would be good to get a few together so we can all have a chat ect ect .

I'd be open to it if a mere 3.0 is allowed out to play. Driven most of those circuits, (except Anglesey) and regardless Curborough is but 5 miles from my door so I'd attend there (to watch as it scares the hell out of me with no run off areas)

One of Curborough - and yes you turn right before that oak tree and back in a huge 180 right to the home straight

Good stuff, just let me know

would love to come.. but only somewhere with good run offs.. not up to the risk of some tracks... yet :)

Why not open it up to all Z4 drivers?
I would be interested (3.0 Sport Coupe)but it would have to be a weekend for me - if I`m not working I don`t get paid. I`m busy and have to work some weekends at the moment but from spring onwards I should have much more spare time so will have weekends spare. I`ve done trackdays in an old BMW E30 M3 but haven`t done one in quite a long time and would like to take the Coupe on track with a BMW crowd (rather than Castle Combe Vauxhall Nova destruction derby days)

Non M's would be in the way all day :poke:

Everyone knows its the boys(and girls) who can`t drive who have to spend much more money on a slightly faster car to make up for their inadequate driving skills. I know a few fantastic drivers who buy slower cars `cause they like to prove their skills against those in faster cars  - it gives them a challenge. :fuelfire:

Joking aside, I`ve had a quick look around for an Z4 M Coupe. Prices look good but I doubt I`d get a fantastic price for mine and I drive many miles a year so I`m better off with the 3.0. The 3.0 has done over 24,000 miles in the last 12 months 3 weeks and the past year I`ve driven less than miles than normal.

With 2 M`s it must be so small you might as well be a girl  With only one non-M I can bang my head against mine :headbang: :P. Then again some people say a long bonnet is a negative regarding ones manhood so we`re all in the same boat I`m afraid

Well then you can see why while I had to drive a Ka for 3 weeks why I was able to throw it over my shoulder and go to a fancy dresss party as a petrol pump...

Of course now I'm back in the Zed normality is restored.

Never done a trackday but would be very interested. Don't see why other Z4s shouldn't come along, the more the merrier! We don't get to see many Z4 meets so it would be good to meet like minded owners for a chat. :D
