Anyone try these cup holders?

Hi guys, thinking of the cup holder issue as when my car arrives here in Spain I will have a 2 hr commute from time to time. Usually make a cuppa before I climb in my van. You can take the boy out of Blighty but.......

My new (to me ) steed doesn't have cup holders. I saw a thread which mentioned these "Ultimate car holder" ones here

Then took a look on the bay of fleas and found these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ultimate-BMW-Black-Cup-Holder-e30-e36-e39-e46-e60-e90-z4-i3-z3-z4-1-3-series/162506104700?hash=item25d61e5f7c:g:JiwAAOSwGvhT1V3q

One criticism of the second option seems to be that they only squeeze between the seat and the console and I must admit that idea doesn't appeal. I was wondering maybe combining the two principles, buy the second units and make up a spring steel support that comes up behind the console as per the "ultimates".

Other than the factory option has anyone managed to fashion something that works and looks "right"?

Ooh, just found it here too in the UK:

Much better pictures too!

Machine Monkey makes a version of the Ultimate cup holder. Think a few people are running this sort of setup. Don’t like the idea of the eBay one as it doesn’t seem very secure... also may get in the way of shifting?

Gotcha kis, was thinking of mounting it on the passenger side because of the shift access yes. Excuse my ignorance but is "Machine Monkey" a member here or a company? Will try google it.

TBH you cant beat the BMW ones that go under the vents, I loved them on my E85, as opposed to the ones I know have on my E89 :(

I think the vent ones are good if you’ve got a big drink. If you’ve got the likes of a red bull then it’ll fall through. So in such cases an alternative is needed!

Go with whatever suits you best. If you place it on the left and think it’s suited there then go for it. As said the OEM under vent ones are quite good. I have one like Ultimate Cupholders on thmy floor for smaller drinks such as redbull cans.

Thx guys. For seven quid you know I'm gonna go ahead with this one and see how easy it is to adapt. Will feed back later.
