Anyone tried VPower Nitro+?

I don't even think my local shell have it....

Not seen it. There would have to be 6 pumps on every pump for them to stock all the variants now! Bit silly really they should have just updated the existing v-power, but all about the money I suppose.

I somehow get the feeling it could be a new lick of paint to extract a further 10p a litre on top of V-Power.

However, Wiki seems to suggest it's the same as V-power just sold under a different names in different countries http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_V-Power

This is a direct replacement for their VPOWER diesel and petrol... it's 99 octane... and features some cleaning agents and lubrication additives to help get more power and efficiency out of your engines... my local garage goes 'live' with it tomorrow!

I used to use BP Ultimate 102 in my race quads at £3.63 per litre but can't get it around here any more. The only standard Petrol that will work for our high comp pistons is Tesco Super 99. We have to put octane booster in V Power 97 and BP 98 petrols. I run the Zed on Tesco's Super whenever I can. We call V Power fish fuel because if you sniff it it smells of fish.

Interesting... i've always used shell over tesco fuel. I can't imagine tesco doing as much research as shell on refining their fuels - but maybe they can!

We use 15.1 pistons and to use V Power we have to add some aviation fuel for it to work, where with Tesco you can use it without additives for practice no problem and the mixture for racing.
There was a number of BP garages selling 102 at the pump near race tracks but because racing is controlled fuel and it is too expensive for track days I think they stopped. I used to get it at Queensferry Services (Near Knockhill) but they have stopped. I believe a garage near Silverstone still does it.
Our quad engines also run cooler with higher octane something to do with cleaner burn and less waste.

I put some in the M3 today at my local shell garage as they have it, I always think its psychological you think it's better but I bet in reality in makes no odds at all & you just end up wasting money on it, but I always try to use super when I can & I admit I swap between shell & tesco 99 :driving:

Good god how much is that going to cost? I'll stick with Tesco 99 at £1.38 pl.
It cost me £1.44 today for the new shell stuff but last time I filled up it was £1.46 but I think fuel prices have dropped across the board.

My local Shell garage has swapped over. It was a straight replacement and no additional cost
same here, filled up last Saturday, no additional cost to normal v power

You must be talking about aviation gasoline (Avgas), which is around 100 Octane. Jet aircraft fuel is basically kerosene (paraffin). Would work OK in a diesel engine, but I wouldn't want to put it anywhere near a petrol engine.

Yes Avgas, I wasn't sure if that was a nickname for it to be honest.

just put some in this evening - or I assume I did as there was no branding on any of the pumps, just a young chap handing out vouchers and telling me in broken English that it was now dispensing 'V-Power Ultimate Super Nitro-plus Chick Magnet'.

As I understand it 'Nitro' is the name used by Shell in the USA so it's probably little more than a global marketing exercise.

Andi.
