Anyone swamped an instrument cluster?

My airbag lights on, got a code for airbag lamp fault in the instrument cluster, someone's been in it before the backs missing and the rev counter needle was reading to low. Maybe they tampered with it somehow not sure, thinking of getting a used set and swapping my EPROM chip to keep my mileage and vin info correct, anyone done it? Thanks for reading.

It might end up in a swamp if I can't get this light off! I've got pa soft scanner v1.4 it give the option of clearing the code but it never goes off and the code stays there.

It won’t reset if the airbag fault’s still live, does the scanner tell you which airbag’s faulty? Sounds like it needs further investigation. :?

The only fault on the srs page is for under voltage which will clear and stay cleared when doing a rescan the only fault then showing is on the instrument cluster page saying airbag lamp fault.

It’s not so simple to just swap the eprom on the clusters. Apparently with the right software you can clear the eprom of a 2nd hand cluster and then reprogram it with correct details, but it’s not a simple straightforward process

PA soft doesn’t clear certain airbag fault lights, and some of the error info is not 100% accurate. instead, get hold of ISTA as it is a better diagnostic - that is dealer level diagnostics so you can clear errors properly (provided there’s no hardware fault)
