Anyone heard of these induction kits before? Seller seems to think they are well known in the BMW community, I've never heard anyone talk of them?

Nope. Although I'm not very big in the BMW community.

There was a discussion on here about induction kits the other day you may want to look out (if you weren't in it). I'd be suspicious that it is a one size fits all solution - 116i to M5 - when most other manufacturers haver very specific kits for different vehicles!

So sought after that in 1 week they have had 9 bids to £15 for something worth £85! Surely the entire BMW community aren't last minute bandits / bidders (Me :) ). Be interested to see what it goes for.

Also, need a heat shield or something similar I would imagine... or is it that good it doesn't need it!

Well known in the BMW community as a 'hot air intake' as all it will do is suck in the hot air from the engine bay. There may be nothing inherently wrong with the filter, it's just being sold in the same manner as every other 'snake oil' product - i.e. a product that might work in certain applications/scenarios, but not in the one that's being advertisied.

You could put one of these into the stock filter housing, but then you'd lose any 'benefits'. You may as well stick an non-oiled K&N panel filter in instead as it'll be better for your car and will at least have a brand name.

Unless you get some proper shielding around it, you won't see any benefits in performance, and even then you might still not :P

If you want more noise, then simply drill some holes into your filter housing (before the air filter), but you'll also be sucking in some hot engine bay air too.

I didn't intend buying one, there isn't much more performance you can get out of a SI if anything at all.

It was just the claim of been "well known" among us BMW peeps that puzzled me abit.. since the only kit that seems to be popular is the DaveF kit for the E46.
