Not normally a fan of 19s due to the capacity for harsh ride but the tyre calcs ive done lead me to 225 40 19 front & 255 35 19 rear so effectively as much sidewall as non M cars run as standard
I know a few M drivers are on 19inch alloys but wondered if any are using the above set up ?
Thanks

235/35/19 are very close on the front arch liners...but dont rub anywhere,so if the 40 series is any higher, despite being narrower you may have a problem.

The rears shouldnt be a worry.....plenty of space, but i would have as much rubber as possible on the back..lol..

the rim widths are 8.5 front 9.5 rear so whilst 265 would go ideal on the rears its not ideal with 40 profile hence the drop to 255 which brings things back in line
Really don't fancy the 30 profile at all

Yea..... you can feel the road a bit..

What about a 275 30 19 ?

Will make the sidewall bigger if thats what you want ?

225 40 19 are 26.1" diameter
235 35 19 are 25.5" diameter...

So it will be close...I would think it will rub on the inner wing panel where the headlight access hatch is..(maybe  )

I compared the existing set up off the 224s on 225 45 18 8j rim offset 42 against the 19inch wheel i have in mind being a 225 40 19 on 8.5 et 40

these are the comparison figures but also consider the inner rim will be 6mm closer to the susp strut :?

Diameter 659.7mm 662.6mm
Circumference 2072.5mm 2081.6mm
Poke 61.6mm 68mm
Inset 141.6mm 148mm
Speedo error 0% -0.44%
Reading at 30mph 30mph 29.87mph
Reading at 60mph 60mph 59.74mph
Ride height gain 0mm 1.45mm
Arch gap loss 0mm 1.45mm

I can take a pic of mine tommorrow on lock and send it too you..

They is really very little in the way of space on the front liner....

The car is on stock ride height which i don't intend changing .
The 6mm closer to suspension ? Is that a little tight ?
Rears should not be any problem .
Alternative is go for a 18inch wheel with more aggresive ETs than 224s

Bing's std 224's rub slightly on the front apparently.

Yeah, but only very slightly, and only on the driver side front. I reckon that's probably because a lot of the time it's only had one person in it, and a natural tendency to take left hand corners more aggressively.

Is that with the 235s fitted ?

Standard 225s. Have to confess, somehow I didn't even realise the ones I bought from you were not the standard size - doh !
