Anyone retrofit a wind defelector?

Thinking about shelling some wedge on the full boona inc. the deflectors that fit within the headrests. I guess if you want to do it, then it should be done properly.
Anyone gone down this route and if so, can you please give me some before and after thoughts.

Did you use OEM? Did you use pattern/aftermarkets? I drive mostly with the hood down at every opportunity but I'm getting a cold left shoulder! Does the deflector solve this?

Ta muchly.

You have to go OEM if you want the proper three part one. I fitted it to my last Z4. You could get away without buying the hoop covers if you are handy with a dremel. Not cheap though.

How much are we talking about srhutch and from where please? Did you dremmel or new hoops too, will the hoop inserts fit into existing hoops?

Also, what was the before and after difference, I guessed it's not cheap so just want to try and find out what sort of improvement to expect so that I can put a price on it.

I've only fitted the middle section, didn't remove anything. No issues, just drilled pilot holes and used shorter screws that supplied.

Cost me just over £100 all in (including fixing bracket) and functions just fine.

I fitted the middle section recently and the boot lid brackets and discovered a nice little tip.

The boot brackets I bought didn't come with any fixings, but I was able to nick some cage nuts from work, which fitted into the precut squares in the boot lid a treat! RS part number for them is 523-109

I got mine when I bought the car. Done a deal with the dealer but had to fit myself.

Replacement covers are/were around £80. But with time and a Dremel you can cut the required slots.

With measurements for a user with one fitted you can determine where to drill holes for the main centre part. The screws are meant to attach to the inner hoop, not the outer silver one.

No ideas on cost now as this was back in 2007.

Thanks vey much all for the gen. From what I read am I right in saying that fitting just the centre section made the required improvement?

I dont particularly wish to fanny aroud with the hoop inserts if the effort/reward curve is minimal! I have the sports seats with high headrest if that makes any difference.

mine had a hole in the mesh when i bought the car, have removed the mesh and rubber strip that holds it in and am off to the perspex factory to have it filled in will post piccy when done :)

RJS, whereabouts did you drill the holes, in what position and where did you measure from? I'm looking at mine and am I right in saying that the centre deflector does not actually form a seal with the surface of the interior and is attached to the front set of hoops?

Thanks

Have you done it yet ? I'd be keen to see how that looks.

I would imagine you get the same benefits but with better rear view vision. Get some piccys up if possible please :D
