My car is in need of discs & pads all round any wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere to buy them from or a certain brand that are pretty good?

Its an E86 3.0si so needs 325mm fronts & 294mm rear i think? If this is wrong please let me know.

The discs im after are drilled, grooved or a combination of both. Im looking for mid to top prices. Id rather pay a little more and stop better.

Anyone got any ideas? Ive had a browse on ebay & there are alot of cheap to mid priced discs but unsure whether they are actualy any good!

Cheers

Mike

Haven't tried them myself but a lot of members have EBC discs on their Z4's and most seem happy with them.

Stoptech make drilled or grooved replacements for the 3.0si and they're good quality.

Deamon tweaks were the best value for red stuff pads.

If u trawl fleabay & get a reputable brand new, won't go far wrong. Again I picked up a set of mintex discs (not grooved or drilled) for £39 a pair & very happy, soon as u go drilled & grooved gets expensive..

Yes, the black is just a coating that will wear off quickly. Get some Pagid / Textar from Eurocarparts. Think they still have their 25% discount offer on. I paid only £144 for a full set.

I recently got new discs and pads all round from mtech. drilled and grooved with mintex pads, came to around £172 for the lot. All fitted perfectly, no rattles, squeaks or squeels, and perform as good as oem (and they look great!)

Mine were for 3.0 se so you would probably be a touch more expensive.

Fitted these last year on my coupe front & rear plus mintex pads £189 delivered, give them a phone great service next day delivery.used them on my last few cars with great results.they manufacture for oe companys.
They can do them black for additional cost.It wil wear off but non contact surfaces with still be coated.I just painted mine with silver hammerite paint, still look great after almost a year.

Just to offer another view, I fitted MTEC grooved/drilled discs and had to replace them within a few weeks because the noise was doing my head in. I've gone back to standard Textar discs with redstuff pads and the braking is exactly the same as with the MTECs, just a lot quiter. I agree that the look of the drilled discs behind the wheel is great though.

Brembo do a drilled disc for the 330d which fits perfectly and would look nice but come with a hefty £300 price for a pair.

I have a pair of MTEC drilled/grooved rear discs sitting in my garage which I decided not to fit if your interested...? They'll be going on Ebay soon.

Here they are fitted, black coating gone. 2 x wishbones as well. Feels a different car!

You will always get a little noise with drilled discs.I have used mine for about 3000 miles now & can barely hear anything. :driving:

cheers for all the replies! Yea ive seen mtec brakes quite alot on ebay but wasnt sure on the quality of the discs. Ill have to have a think and more of a look about.

I can handle a bit of noise aslong as the brakes dont squeak or squeal!
