Anyone recommend an alternative to Photobucket?

Looks like they have shifted the goal posts and are asking for money :x All the pictures on my For Sale ads etc are now gone :x

So looking for an alternative to host pictures and post on forums? Anyone recommend one?

I'm not sure what 'limits' were in play before, but its not as if I'm suddenly hammering my pictures or uploading hundreds. So I'm sure something has changed :(
 
Have you got any website space you can use instead? I was using a hosted service from Register1, and got 2gb space & 10gb/month download capacity for £16/year (plus your own domain to host them and/or a website).

I've upgraded to the next level (4gb space & 200gb/month) at £33/year as I wanted to host some other files for this & other forums.

Otherwise, just set up a free dropbox account (this contains my referral link so I get an extra 500mb of free space - or you can just go to dropbox.com) and use the public folder as your photo repository.
 
Ok have been recommended Imageshack. So far looks ok, not quite as slick as Photobucket but that is more than likely down to me not liking change :D
 
flickr is the daddy of online photo sites IMO. Well, it works for me. They do have a free allowance (or did the last time I checked) but it's pitifully small - you need to pay for the best, but at least then it's a good way of having your photos backed up.
 
I used Drop Box for a while, but then my images stopped showing - I have no idea what happened. Switched to Photobucket and had no issues so far...
 
Photobucket Pro costs about $36 for three years. No maximum storage and file sizes as large as you like - no more resizing to some miserable spec. Had mine five years and no problems. :thumbsup:

I'm simply using Google+ as I have a calendar and e-mail address on Google anyway. The same exists for Windows Live.
 
Flickr for sure just signed up for the pro service so I could put the National Cumbria Meet pics up :thumbsup:

Flickr is by far the best and you get 200 free pic space. The links work straight from the share button instead of adding around them.

Think I shall do this - easy to use, and the iPad app is great. Also does a 'copy IMG link' like Flikr :thumbsup:

My drop box had random issues too.

And i love how i can use the photobucket ipad app to upload pics taken from iphone and end up on my photostream!!

Can you put a link to a picture on a forum and it simply displays the picture? If so that will probably get my vote, bit of a Google/Android fan :)
 
Flickr is the best option and as others have already said, free for less than 200 pics. Picasa/google plus is good, free and has better IP protection for photographers than many other sites
 
Photobucket works well for a small fee.

I paid as it got rid of the ads. That alone was worth the fee.

Also there's a great app for easy uploading of the cone pics. :thumbsup:

Can't speak for Apple OS but in Firefox the 'right click' menu over any image contains an 'Upload to My Photobucket' item which then returns the image link for posting. Tres handy.
 
Yup, I use it on the PC too, and agree - simples. On the iPad app there is a link symbol which you touch, and then you can choose the same list of link options :thumbsup:
 
Actually Flickr is a bit more generous as the limit is per month:

How many photos and videos can I upload for free?

When you have a free Flickr account, you can upload 2 videos and 300MB worth of photos each calendar month.

While the 300MB bandwidth limit for photos is firm, we do allow a little leeway for video in case you encounter transcoding errors, sound sync weirdness, etc. You will be able to delete and upload a new video. Please note, that if we determine you’re abusing your free video upload privileges, we may block your ability to share video.

Your upload limits are reset to zero at midnight in Pacific Time Zone (Flickr headquarters time) on the first of each calendar month. You can't recover any of your monthly allowance by deleting photos. If you have a free account, you'll see your limit on the upload page.

If you find yourself hitting your limit, try a pro account. Or, you can shoot your photos at a lower resolution or resize them to be more "web-friendly" (like 300KB instead of 5MB).

Firefox doesn't offer me that option on Windows 7 or Lion - are you sure you've not allowed some dodgy toolbar to be installed :P
