Anyone recognise this coupe?

If you google the reg number you will be taken to a number of sites that have previously listed adverts featuring this actual car as suspected scams involving dealers accounts being hacked. Tread carefully :spy:

Oh I know it's a scam, I just wondered if the owner was on here... (the real owner)

The four things that gave it away are: Ebay ad that disappeared. Car turns out to be in Norway (Trondheim). Seller claims to use a shipping company which holds deposit until car is in UK and inspected. Seller can't show any new/different pictures. It was too cheap. (that's five!)

Talk about alarm bells!

(Almost as bad as the caravan club classified ads - absolutely riddled with scammers...)
 
I posted about this car / advert when I was looking. I traced the shipping / money transfer company to a temporary office space and the director to a bungalow.

Don't think anyone would get taken in but they do have websites for all the companies and responses from various email addresses. :(

One owner (not sure if still the current owner) of this vehicle worked at McLaren. Recognise the reg number from when I used to work there.

May have been better to have stated that you already knew all about the car and what your interest was then TBH,

I saw this advertised months ago on A/T at a local Toyota dealership - mind you the advert disappeared very quickly! (seeing as we aren't supposed to name and shame I will just say T*y*t* S*n*h*r*t!

I exchanged a couple of E-mails, but it was soon apparent this wasn't a genuine sale - can only be a scam as far as I can tell!

I also found a similar scam, with the same details: Trondheim, Norway and UK Shippers Ltd, but with an Audi.

The Z4 was advertised for £5k and the 'seller' offered to ship it for free as he could claim the shipping back. I just had to put 50% in with the shipping company that would 'hold' my money until I'd inspected the car when it arrived.

I can post the email conversation I had from the seller if anyone's interested...
 
I don't think that anyone believes thatit was a scam by Toyota Sandhurst, but was someone spoofing their identity.

If it looks too good to be true..........

You must have Rhino skin so I'll spell it out. I'm saying your post simply wasted the time of members (inc me) who thought they were preventing a newbie (you) from walking in to a scam. Once you revealed you'de actually been using the forum to 'trap' a scammer in a Clueso'esque sting operation you don't see any need to thank anyone or apologise for time wasting.

I'll put the lack of manners down to over-excitement :roll:
