Anyone programmed the DSC unit?

Following on from fitting a BBK to the front end I saw that for the intended original models the BBK was intended for, the E90 series, that a software update was called for...

TIS explains in detail all the very clever things that the later DSC unit fitted to the E89 does.. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e89-z4-sdrive20i-roa/wiring-functional-info/chassis-suspension/traction-control-system/dsc-unit/1tzCnXU

I can see using Bimmergeeks Protool the DSC coding section but quite what each parameter does I have no idea..

Does anyone know or have a lookup table / coding book to explain what parameters affect what functions?

There's two levels of changes you can make to modules. A full software update which will change the entire way the unit operates and then there's a calibration change which is essentially just settings for the software. ProTool can make calibration changes but WinKFP is needed for flashing different software.

On the E90 it's possible to flash the M3 DSC software onto the standard E90 DSC unit which people claim gives more freedom for sliding around.

People that add a LSD to their car typically have to make calibration changes to disable the EDiff on the car. That can be done with ProTool.

I'm not sure what needs changing on the DSC for the BBK. I would imagine it would be a small calibration change that lets the car know it has bigger brakes.

Thanks for the replies..

My question is how do you know which of the terse parameters to code?

Is it written up anywhere (apart from BMW's secret safe)..

Otherwise it seems people are just toggling parameters without knowing what they are impacting?

hi Peter, do you mean coding it?

I coded it when add LSD to the car

So when you coded for LSD what did you change?

The BMW LSDs are electronicallly controlled , your is purely mechanical?

I made a note of all the nannies that can be disabled from some old forum topics I found. I think the source of the info is offline now so I uploaded it here: https://we.tl/t-mLoIo3spCc

This info assumes NCSDummy but ProTool will have the same functions.

last post: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=121975

as you can see there, I used NCSDummy to find and set the options I needed

steps: read out the content of the module using NCSExpert, backup and load the .TRC file into NCSDummy

Its very annoying when you tell everyone else to read the previous texts on subjects.. then you make the same mistake.. :headbang: thanks!

Not sure in reality (assuming you are not drifting) that with the LSD fitted whether you really need to disable all those functions.. :tumbleweed:

Assume you were on say ice, then you would want the engine to shut down as you lost grip? :driving:
