Does anyone have a guide to removing the hoops?
Found this (look at post #11 for pics and step by step) http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...ctory-Hard-Wind-Blocker&highlight=wind screen
Use plastic trim removal tools to separate them (remove the wind deflector mounts first if you have them).
I think someone suggested giving them a warm up with a hair dryer (warm, not melt... ) to make the plastic more flexible and lower the chances of breaking plastic tabs. Or wait until a hot day in summer after the car's been outside for a while.
I took as much care as I possibly could but still broke one or two tabs (but didn't 'preheat' them, probably should have). They go back together okay as long as you haven't broken a lot of tabs.
Take it slowly, don't use excessive force, and you should be able to get them separated.

Cheers mate, it was a good to get something 'extra' done to the car while it was getting a panel resprayed (which had been damaged by a 'professional' car detailer. Damn that turned out to be an expensive detail... :headbang: )

I'm planning to do this today. Its been on the list to do them body colour. I've primed them ready to go and my paint finally turned up this week. Given how tight they are to fit, i'm going to leave the paint and lacquer to harden for at least a week before refitting.

i will post up pics when done.
