Anyone owned a 911?

I have had 2 in years past.
1977 Porsche 911S
1990 Porsche 911

Great cars... :driving:
They were both very reliable but service is very expensive.
Drove both 911's for over 10 years for mostly pleasure only.
I considered going back to a Porsche a few years ago but the local Porsche dealer is terrible and I really do like to drive the Z4MR better.

Another mulit-Porsche owner - I've had the 1983 911, 944, and 928. I liked the 911, but I'm unusual in that I liked the water-pumpers more at the time. I can still tell a flat-six air-cooled engine by ear from half a mile, though.

Oddly, a 997 C2S is cheaper to service than a Z4M over here. It was at my local dealer anyway, I went for a test drive and they told me the whole network now offers fixed price menu servicing - it was around £450 a pop. Compare that to an average service cost of £620 (if you average out Oil/Insp1/Insp2) on ours... plus we have 12,000-15,000 mile intervals, whereas the 911 has a 20,000 mile / 2 year interval. Struck me as pretty good value from a maintenance perspective, except for the 2 year warranty - apparently 'because we found Porsche owners tend to only want 2 years'. Yes, some people want a shorter warranty, that's perfectly realistic

;)

More like that 2 years is the European required minimum term ;)

Don't leave me out of this discussion, I had to sit through the first one on z4um.com :)
