2012 28i. Located in glove box when open, side nearest passenger door. Single wire leading to small button. The red dot appears to be double sided tape. Have pressed the button and didn’t notice anything happen so have ruled out ejector seat. Have spoken with previous owner and he is not aware of it.

Its not standard. Possibly something to do with a tracker, or I've seen similar buttons for Dash Cam's in order to take a snap shot, but I'd have expected it to be located on the driver's side rather than there.

Thanks. The previous owner did have reverse and forward cameras installed last year, but he isn’t aware of the button, or it’s use.

The only other thing I can think is the previous owner also had the roof opener changed so you only need to press once, and not hold, the button for the roof to open or close, up to about 40 Kph. Other than that being somehow associated, I have no idea.

Thankyou Rob. I'll lean across and give it a try next time I'm out. I guess the correct procedure is accelerate harshly, lean across and press button. Sounds straight forward. I'll let you know how I get on............as long as the hospital WiFi is good.

Simples, what could possibly go wrong? :)

I know many of you will be up, unable to sleep, wondering what this button is. The good news is that I can answer my own question as I managed to track down the installers of the front/rear cameras. Apparently it is the programming button for the front/rear camera system. 'Normally tucked out of the way'.

Great, now back to bed
