Anyone know what this bracket is for?

Started the long job of cleaning under the bonnet today. Found this bracket with 2 threaded studs. Not familiar with BMW s so I wondered if anyone knew what it was for? It's on the drivers side behind the suspension mount but in front of the brake fluid reservoir.

I think I read somewhere it's an "M" related bracket but can't remember exactly what. Sorry that's not terribly helpful but at least you now know that it's about as redundant as your appendix.

Secondary air pump for emissions control, the Alpina has it fitted too

You can see it by the suspension turret in this photo

Its an old pic - no strut brace - should see how dusty it is now after it's winter lay-up :P
It had several cleans after that photo and got another going over before the winter lay-up and it's been garaged all winter with a soft cotton cover - so, if anything, it should be cleaner than in the posted photo... :poke:

Hi
I notice most of posts say it is for emissions on 'M' an Alpina, I have a 2006 2.0 and it is even on that. In the location of the two studs in you photo.

Proof required, or we will all be having dirty thoughts. :P
