Guys, thinking of going to look at this and just wondered if anyone has come across it before.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201403172575015/sort/pricedesc/usedcars/page/1/radius/100/price-to/17000/price-from/10000/postcode/mk125hq/make/bmw/transmission/manual/model/z4/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/seller-type/trade_adverts/body-type/coupe?logcode=p

Apart from the dirty engine bay, unflattering mud flaps and I see it has an aftermarket strut brace and air filter, it doesn't look to bad and has a good spec and colour combo.

Thoughts on this?

very nice. I called them about it a few days back, and they said that it needed a service now, but refused to take it to a main dealer due to the cost.

Ask them to deduct something off the cost and get it done yourself with the proviso of anything else needing doing.

Also I can't believe they posted that picture of the engine in the state it's in.

I had that with my M3 when I bought it. It had full BMWSH but was due one and they were just going to get it done at the garage they use to save on costs. I just got them to give me a decent discount and got it done myself at BMW.

I would not expect the engine bay to look any better even on delivery day...just the vibe I got from speaking with the sales guy...so I thought better than to go and see it.

Having said all that,..I think they will contribute towards taking it to a main dealer, but wont pay 100%. obviously want to maintain their profit margin..

Its been for sale for about a month now,was originally priced at £18000,with that in mind & needing a service id offer thm £16000 & go from there,I wouldn't pay more than £16250 for it.

Why would you even show the engine bay pic on a £17k car if it looked like that  that alone tell,s me everything i need to know about the seller .
The car itself may still be worth chasing but i would want cash off & any issues sorted somewhere i trust . , shitty under bonnet shot,s are a piss-take & my Astravan look,s cleaner in the engine bay

Are they real CSLs? I am not sure

If they're reps, I'd say £16.5 should be max offer. Maybe £16k actually

It is worse than yours Steve :poke:

From what I understand you had a dust issue. Bing nearly walked about due to the lack of care.

I can't believe the previous owner or garage could have an engine back in such a bad state

Cheers for the input guys.

I spoke to the seller this morning and though I'm sure I could deal with the dusty engine, as it is a bout an hour and half away from me I was hoping to go view a couple of cars down that way, but the second car has now sold and I really don't want to do that drive for one car I'm not 100% on.

He was referring to some dust on the floor tiles :poke:

Worth going to see even if just set a benchmark

Which had fallen from your engine :poke:

Go for it, Champagne is not as hard to keep clean as you might imagine. Very nice colour combo. look at the cartoon pic top left here ! :D

I spoke to the guy when it first came on the market, but it took a week for him to return my call. He said it had not been prepped and he would call me when it had been to view it. Not heard from him since and in the mean time bought a clean 26000 mile interlagos blue with champagne leather. He had it up for £18k when first advertised, so I guess he's panicking or someone's found something wrong with it? Good luck.
