Anyone know this car

Anyone know anything about this car.
3.0si in Phoenix Yellow with yellow/black interior.
Reg Y9 ELO.
Miles are bit high and mot history a bit sketchy.
I’m based in Northern Ireland so not ideal for a car in Southampton.
My nephew is looking for one.
Ideally a 3.0
I am trying to guide him to a car that is in better condition but he likes this one and getting an Si under his £4k budget is unusual.
Thanks for any input.

Good spec but looks quite tatty at a glance, steering wheel looks grim, and rear bumper damage.
Looks from the mot history that I may need springs, shocks and potentially brake lines.
Sounds like it is being sold as seen with no warranty too. Not sure a dealer is allowed to do that?

One of 28 yellow 3.0si manual roadsters that came to the uk.
One of 4 with bi colour seats and ali dash.
This is the car I think…

Rare and distinctive. A bit of a risk though, unless your nephew is prepared for the downsides that might come with it. Phoenix Yellow panels in good condition will be especially hard to come by.

The nephew is an apprentice mechanic so he’s not afraid of the work.
I would rather see him start with a better car.

There is no obligation for a dealer to provide a warranty.

However, as he's a business, the item must be fit for the purposes for which it's provided. So in essence, if there is a defect that makes it unsafe/illegal/impractical to drive on the road, the dealer is liable.

In the real world, taking a dealer to court isn't much fun.

Looks a dodgy car from a dodgy dealer. Buying cheap doesn't always end up costing less! Usually a rough old car with a lot spent on it, remains a rough old car. I guess if knows his stuff he will only need to pay for parts, but even so......

There do seem to be a lot of one star reviews on AT for AL Prestige cars Ltd., not sure though if it is the same person every time. Be a good idea to take a look though. (y)

For a dealer to advertise a car and not warrant it/ remove consumer rights it has to strictly be sold as a spares & repairs car, which can mark a car sound worse than it is but that’s the legal way around it.

When I was looking for my Zed 4 years ago, there was a garage selling one locally on the outskirts of Exeter, "for a customer". I asked about a warranty but as he was selling it for a customer he wouldn't give one. It was way over priced needed lots of work, had run flats and he would not drop the price. I told him to forget it. However this one is a low price, if your careful and your son can do the work, might be a bargain.

Looks like the soft top has some repaired damage alongside the other issues that have been pointed out

As big Winn said Phoenix yellow does fade, it is most notable in the bonnet boot and top of the wings

It has to be collected on trailer/transporter for that to work.
If the dealer allows it to be driven away, he’s shown it’s fit to drive on the road.
But as I said legal rights are one thing, enforcement is another.

Yes that is true, it would be a hard one to enforce, ultimately this car should just be treated as a private sale. Price wise I imagine a private seller would be advertising for a similar amount. Be interesting car to see close up, with some love it could be a good car, rare colour and a great spec from what I can see
