Anyone know about sending items to Canada?

Want to send my son's power tools to him in Canada - can't work out if I can send them with the batteries. Web-sites and official publications are confusing and imply they can be sent if the batteries are integral/part of the item whereas other official sources say they are a dangerous item and can't be sent?

Anyone know or had experience of sending such items?

Via Air will be quicker, but more expensive and the battery issue may prevent some items. Power tools generally have a removable battery (for charging) so I don't think this would be counted as integral. Maybe you can send minus the batteries and he can buy new ones in Canada, may also be cheaper as you reduce the weight of the package.
You can send by ship in a mixed container, takes longer, but much cheaper and no issues with batteries.

Hi Paul, maybe give Panalpina a call for advice and they should also be able to give you a price for air and surface freight.

Thanks for the reply folks - been in contact with a couple of the firms - been told that they are not allowed to transport Lithium Ion batteries so can't get my son's Makita Drill, Charger and three batteries across to Canada. . . . looks like I've inherited them then. :D
