Anyone have a 3D Scanner / 3D Printer?

Just wondering if we could get some of the hardtop lock covers 3D printed, they look pretty simple, they are also small so shouldn't cost much to print.....

Would actually need someone with the ability to 3D scan and also someone who has some lock covers they could loan to be scanned...

The current going rate for these is... Scandalous! so there would surely be a market for an aftermarket alternative allowing the person scanning and printing to make a bit of money if they wanted, even better of course they could just release the plans then anyone one can get a set printed...

Just an idea but got my hardtop on now and whilst the gaps bug me they do not bug me enough to spend £100! if it was £30 or £40 I'd buy some!

I just put in an order for a small bit of 3d printing, and it still was £80 ....

3D printing is pretty expensive (especially for resilient materials). Usually when people have access to a 3D printer they are doing it on company money, which is either very cool or not very cool at all, depending on who you work for.

Good idea though. If I get time I'm going to print the cubby latch part that turns the light off - they are in big demand and are small as well.

On a related note, if anybody has a vac former and a 3D printer, I bet you could make passable ABS roof covers for about £5 each.

Didn't realise 3D printing was so expensive, Vac forming would probably be better actually not used one of them machines since I was in school, actually had a quick look on ebay and theres a mini vac former designed for making mouthguards for £65 but may be slightly too small

I did not realise the cost either, but decided to spend £80 on a 3D print to measure everything up first prior to investing £10k in a number of moulds ...
