Anyone had heated seats retrofitted?

I assume your not diy'er.
I fitted my own after market pads, not too difficult.

Thanks, my biggest worry would be getting the seat in and out. If it was possible with the seat in situ I might attempt it but I expect not

What's a hog tie BTW?

It's not that difficult to get the seats out, easier with the roof down and remember to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery before you start (don't close the boot also).

Fitted after market seat pads and wiring to my 2.5 manual seats mounted the kit switches in the gearstick plastic surround above the hazard switch. Sourced from ebay @ £16 per seat. To fit its a seat out job and strip the covers off to stick the pads on the foam squab and backrest. Loads of hog rings hold it all together under the covers, some people use nylon zip ties instead of replacing the hog rings, I used new hog rings and a hog ring tool to close them. Picture shows passenger seat squab stripped, thats the occupancy sensor mat, fitted the heat pad over the top of that then put the cover back on hog ringing it to the wires that are buried in the foam to retain it.

All work fine high setting warms up quick, often have to put it on low which is comfy and not too hot.

I have heated seats currently but I may get some non heated seats. If I get a aftermarket seat heating pad and install them into the non heated seats. I assume I can just wire into the car harness system

I assume this could be done however the seat pads in the ebay kits have a small resistance box embedded in the mat which controls the pad from overheating where the oem seat pads are controlled from the switch unit in front of the gearstick and ashtray. Not at all sure the kit mats would be suitable to be a straight swop if they were simply plugged into the stock wiring under the seat. Anyone out there replaced a mat and retained the stock switch unit?

I’m about to do this to a set of msport seats- will let you know how it goes

If they are standard seats note that the leather facing and the seat foam are bonded together, where on the msport they don’t appear to be, so ability to fit pads is limited

But finding a set of heated seats to retrofit is simpler- and I’d happily help out if you fancy a drive over to Lincs

I have standard leather seats fully electric and heated. I want to get sport seats ideally heated, but if I can I like the idea of retro fitting them with a aftermarket if it create more options. @bigwinn please keep us posted! :D
