Anyone gutted their backbox? (N20)

Heyo,

Looking to get a touch more sound out of my exhaust without making many drastic changes.

Has anyone taken the insulation out of their backbox in order to get more sound of their exhaust, and was it worth doing?

Have you tried leaving the exhaust valve in the open position? It adds a bit of gruffness to the note.

Hey Rob,
Yeah I did the the golf tee mod a couple of months ago. Made it sound a bit better, but still looking for a bit more noise without splashing out too much.
I don’t want it to sound ridiculous, but I’d like to get a bit more sound out of it.

Steve on here had the resonator removed & said it improved the sound, i think you’d need a friendly mot man afterwards though. :?

Inside exhaust has a valve which opens under certain circumstances. If you disconnect the vacuum pipe to the exhaust valve, it’ll stay permanently open.

Only an option for cars fitted with the valve of course, the e86 doesn’t have one
